BlackRock is expanding its headquarters, adding more than 50,000 square feet (4,600 square meters) of space, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified citing private information. A BlackRock spokesperson declined to comment.
The tower at 50 Hudson Yards opened in late 2022 and is nearly fully occupied by tenants including Meta Platforms Inc. and Truist Financial Corp. It’s one of multiple office skyscrapers at the Hudson Yards development, which also has an Equinox Hotel, stores, restaurants and luxury housing.

“Our decision to relocate to Hudson Yards is driven by our conviction that world-class, well-located and highly amenitized workplaces, which focus on employee experience and wellness, are critical to attract and retain the best talent in the market,” Blake Hutcheson, OMERS chief executive officer, said in an emailed statement.
While Manhattan’s office market has struggled with the rise in remote work, tenants are still seeking space at newly constructed or renovated buildings. TPG Inc. is nearing a deal to take a offices at the Spiral, a new tower near Hudson Yards, Bloomberg reported.
