AA has announced another round of route cuts. The only post-COVID routes that remain are Aspen, Nashville, and Orange County (I think AA served Cancun and Cabo at least seasonally before COVID). I seriously doubt RDU comes back as planned in the Spring.

I’ve heard that American is expecting another post-recovery Q3 with losses which is far behind how Delta and United have performed. Even with DL’s disastrous weekend they will likely still come out ahead this quarter.

This seems to leave an opportunity for Delta which has been struggling for gate space since the start of the Midland, McAllen and Nashville flights in April.

January-June 2024 was just under 1% more than 2023 at 10.82 million - even after more than 20 routes were cancelled by airlines (namely American) this year.

June PAX not quite as robust at May's record. But, it was up compared to 2023 and still over 2 million.

Southwest to launch two new nonstops from Austin

Flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Reno, Nevada, will take off March 6. The Milwaukee route will operate year-round each weekday, while the Reno route will be seasonal and “less than daily.”

With AA leaving the MSY route, looks like Delta will be starting service to MSY. Based on this article, looks to be 2x daily on an E175 starting in late Feb 2025. https://airlinegeeks.com/2024/08/24/...tin-expansion/

I drive by the airport often and I noticed a lot of steel came up on the west side of the airport. Picked up my gf's mom also and noticed a lot of construction. Only took this photo though

Functionally, the Arrivals-Departures Hall is proceeding forward to the Council for a vote later this month: https://services.austintexas.gov/edi....cfm?id=435498

This particular rendering originates from the Master Plan development IIRC and does not depict any sort of final design.

This is the West Infill project that should significantly increase security checkpoint capacity on that end. More about it here: https://www.austintexas.gov/blog/gro...oint-3-project.

I also noticed more steel coming up in the very west end. Is this part of it?

^ Thank you for that. I don't believe I saw the west expansion renderings before. Only 2 more years until it's completed! Crazy it's almost 2025 already

That was the original, detached design. The airport now wants the new hall to now be directly attached to the BJT. We have not seen a new rendering of this design yet.

Ty Mikey fro clarity.

As for new render, I really hope they don't value engineer it into something ugly. I'd love for us to have a gorgeous entry to our airport.

Probably the most amount of eye candy for the A/D Hall can be found in the City's request for proposals for its design: https://assets.austintexas.gov/finan..._DOC_18_v1.pdf

While conceptual, there's a decent amount of material on how the new hall is intended to connect to existing BJT and, moreover, be accessible by new roadway and pedestrian infrastructure.

That's a different project called the West Gate Expansion. More on that here: https://www.austintexas.gov/sites/de...Pager%20v5.pdf

I found this image in one of the links from above - not ugly but not as grand as the earlier, conceptual design. VE strikes again!

Ugh, Jesuuuuus. Looks so very basic. I'm not shocked at all anymore. It's a fun little game Austin likes to play.
