Quote:
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The former Northside High School will get a new lease on life.
"It's amazing," said Nadine Porter, a 1974 graduate of the school. "That's part of the reason why I am so emotional. I grew up in the neighborhood, the fact that this is going to be a beautiful area, and I believe it is going to help the youth seniors."
Porter is excited that hallways of the school that she once walked will be used to help the North Memphis community.
"A historic school that was on the verge of being knocked down is getting a new facelift and new purpose,” said Ashley Cash, the director for the city's Housing and Community Development.
