Why are architects allergic to colours these days?

Good to hear about some progress for this site. Have to take a walk down there with my dog to check on those fire hydrants.

The CBC news piece mentions the ground floor of every unit will be "business space, open to the public". I'm guessing that means they don't want or expect it to be all new retail. Maybe services like medical or dental clinics? It will be interesting to watch the development progress.

It seems they're leaning the complete community way so it would make sense. As the development progresses maybe a doctor's office, dentist, lawyer, grocery store, etc. All the trappings of life beyond bars and restaurants.

"A 20-year, two-phase project, Railside will provide a range of housing types for different income levels."

I wonder if this counts the 11 years since railside was first announced? This is a great project but holy smokes is it ever moving slowly.

Can't wait to see it! I would have wished for a little more height though, considering it's so close to downtown. 8ish stories would still maintain that human scale.

It will take a little bit of time...remember that a lot of these developers have hade these projects collecting dust since 2018-2019. The development was only given the green light in the early part of this year. A lot has changed since then.

I have been told that start times will range from fall 2024 to spring 2025.

Not a fan. The parking kills the commercial aspect of the building.

I hate this architectural style with a passion, and it seems like a style that is repeated to high hell these days. Minecraft ass building.

Another grey and black building. I thought the Forks was aiming for a higher level of design.
