That's either Bentall I or II based on the white columns.

Central Burrard to open in downtown Vancouver early 2025

^^ Yeah Bentall II that space they renovated but couldn't get anyone to lease.

I wonder if Joeys is bailing on their space it seems to be available for lease in the leasing brochure.

I must be missing something, as I don't see Joeys' space shown in the brochure. I see the old restaurant between 3 and 4 is still available, for more than a decade now.

It looked similar to Joey's layout and I don't remember there being a restaurant space under Tower 3. Hasn't it always just been lobby/office space?

The south retail space in Bentall 2 that had been used as a pop-up space is wrapped in paper and there is framing happening in the outdoor space in front of it. Could be there?

We might be talking about two different spaces. The space I'm referring to (BX4 - Tower Four Building B in the brochure) is around the same grade as the tower 4 retail concourse level. It used to be an Italian restaurant for a long time, going from memory. The space has been vacant for at least 10-15 years now.

Perhaps you're referring to the space on the page noted as BX3 - Tower Three
595 Burrard Street in the brochure? That appears to be a proposed re-tenanting of the ground floor lobby of B3. I've not been in that lobby for some time now but some years ago I heard that BMO had little true need for that space.

That's a lot of empty space down there.
It looks like the entire food court under Bentall I and II is empty.
I wonder if they looked at opening up access from the surface between the towers (i.e. an entrance pavilion) to that area of the concourse?
I'm surprised there's no Dollarama down there (i.e. combine units 400 and 413 (stair or elevator would be required))

I walked that a short while ago, and it looked like they were all shut down and boarded up for renovation. I couldn't tell if any work was being done behind the hoarding.

And it's my understanding that what you're suggesting was looked at around roughly ten-ish years ago. I've no insight since then.

I assume it's not worthwhile for Dollarama even if they got the space for free. I don't think there's any planned interconnection between the towers using Burrarrd Exchange? Here's the floorplans for 1025 Dunsmuir

Pi Co. Pizza closed both of its locations in Vancouver on June 28th.

574 Granville Street
514 West Broadway

I really hope they come back and I found Pi Co. Pizza better than Blaze Pizza.

Yikes they did not last too long. I did not try the Broadway location but the pricing is rough compared to other options in the area.

Central Restaurants to open its first Vancouver location
by Vicki Duong on July 18th, 2024

Rendering of Central Restaurants Burrard.

Quote:
Keen downtown Vancouver observers may have noticed construction outside the Bentall Centre, with an expansion towards the plaza along Burrard Street. While the running joke is that any new build in Vancouver is destined to house a vape shop or a Spirit Halloween, today it was announced that this space would be the latest location for Calgary-based Central Restaurants.

From the same team behind Craft Beer Market, Central Restaurants Burrard is being designed by Way of Normal, the Canadian interior design firm behind 33 Acres Brewing and the Craft in Victoria. Expect contemporary aesthetics combined with lush greenery and plenty of natural light.

“The response and support to our original Central location has been so incredible, we have been looking to open for a while in Vancouver and love the location at Bentall Centre,” shares PJ L'Heureux, founder of Central Restaurants, in a statement. “We are excited to bring Central to the heart of Vancouver.”

Vancouver man finds dead mouse in poke bowl: "I notice the legs and everything"
Megan Devlin
Aug 20 2024, 1:01 pm

A Vancouver man said he found a dead mouse in his poke bowl last month, an experience that has put him off eating out and led to questions about the restaurant’s response.

Kam Kakwan visited Poke Bar at Kingsway and Broadway on July 29, deciding to treat himself to a nutritious lunch while at work. He brought the bowl back to the office and had eaten half of it when he realized something wasn’t right.

“I come to something that seemed like a chunk of lettuce or cabbage in the corner. I was trying to get it into pieces, but it just wasn’t separating,” he said. “As I’m trying I see the tail. And I’m like, that’s a weird part of a cabbage. I’m trying to follow it and I notice the legs and everything. As I wipe the sauce and have a better look I realize it was a mouse.”...

Lol. The franchise owner should have just given the guy the measly 500 bucks without suggesting it goes to a charity. A very cheap price to avoid the media attention. Really should have given him much more with a non disclosure agreement. They are going to lose a lot of business, or possibly go out of business like that rat soup restaurant.
