19-20 year-olds will do that too. My ex's car was kept in immaculate condition until her youngest got a driver's licence. Afterward everything became greasy with random fries and wrappers and personal items strewn about, and the car began to smell. At the time I still had a vehicle with a manual transmission, so I was basically the only driver... had we stayed together I have little doubt my current one would have suffered a similar fate.

And had we stayed together, an EV may have been an option - the previous owners had put an outlet in the garage, which also had a separate breaker panel. I was going to have an electrician add a couple of standard circuits before we split, but was able to get a converter that at least let us use the outlet for "regular" electrical needs.

My kids are 17 and 14 and there are still Skittles under the seat and plastic wrappers from Jos Louis in the god damn door handles.

We picked up our Mustang Mach E from Toronto on the weekend. It had a full charge when we left the dealership in Vaughn and the battery was at 13% when we arrived at our place in Ottawa. Over 420km on a full charge, pretty good.

I'm far from a electric car devotee but we looked at our driving habits and the electric car was a no brainer. Now I'm looking at charging station locations on google maps all the time! LOL!

We are leasing. Because of the advances in battery tech you may be buying something that is devalued in 4 years.
At least that was the advice we got in our research.

A Better Route Planner and Plug Share are very helpful apps when it comes to all things charging

Very sensible. The second generation EVs of most major OEMs should be better and cheaper. They are learning a ton and batteries are getting cheaper and better.

The topic of conversation was a bit different than usual, though: Mr. Peltz had brought together a group of billionaire conservative financiers — including Steve Wynn, the Las Vegas casino magnate, and the hedge-funder John Paulson — to dive into concerns about whether Republicans could seize Senate control, as well as the party’s weak ground game, according to a person with direct knowledge of what transpired.

But Mr. Musk had a darker message that spring day. He told the group that this would be the last free election in America — because if President Biden won, millions of undocumented immigrants would be legalized and democracy would be finished, according to the person.

Mr. Trump had to win, Mr. Musk said. He dispensed some advice for the veteran financiers, who had decades more experience in Republican politics than he did: Their emphasis on political advertising was misplaced, he said. Tesla, his electric car company, barely advertises, he said, but had still built a cult following through word of mouth. Why couldn’t Republicans do the same?….

Pretty sure everybody knows Musk has become a douche? Certainly anyone politically active enough to factor their political leanings into their car purchases. He's one of the world's most famous, loud-mouthed, and news-covered people.

It's costing them sales too. I think their slowdown in sales in key markets like California, has to be at least partly because of Elon's politics.

Who's a Tesla bro? Believe it or not, some of us have divorced economics from politics. The cybertruck looks like it was designed by an 8 year old.

If I was a single guy I would have bought a Rivian. My Better Half, who researches everything to death, decided we were buying a Model Y instead. I listened to her because life is much safer that way, and also saved $30K+ on the price tag. I still have to go past the Rivian lot every day I go to the office though...

I am ashamed to drive a Tesla, but at the time of purchase, four-and-a-half years ago, Musk had not yet revealed that he was not just quirky, but a terrible human being. I certainly chafe at the thought of bankrolling anything that favours Dump, but what am I going to do, sell the car? That's unrealistic.
