The speaker suggested that a revolving restaurant be developed at the Light House Hill and requested the minister to sanction funds for the purpose.
As long as the Tagore Park is left intact it is fine to have a revolving restaurant. But my suggestion is to develop it in some other hill where there is unhindered view of the sea & the rivers and declare the hill as highrise free area. Otherwise it should be a part of riverfront project or even it can be in a part Tannirbhavi where CRZ rules are not applicable and then the government should declare Tannirbhavi as highrise free area.

There is one more way to have revolving restaurant. Request Westline, Bhandari or Yamuna builders to construct one on top of their building like this one. It could be even on top of a tallest hotel.

Construction of Indian Coast Guard Academy begins at Kenjar
Quote:
Mangaluru, Sep 23: The process of building the first Indian Coast Guard Academy has begun at Kenjar on the outskirts of the city. A 158-acre land is handed over to the defence ministry for the purpose. Now compound wall is being built around the land.

The project is expected to get completed by 2026.
Quote:
The project is estimated to cost Rs 1000 crore. Coastal Karnataka has the geographical landscape that is favourable for establishing academy. The present land is by the side of Phalguni river. In addition, the third chief office of Coast Guard is at Panambur. Port and airport is also nearby. So Kenjar was picked as the suitable place for construction of the academy.

Nine different schools will be there inside the academy. Around 650 trainees will be elected for the purpose which includes foreign nationals also.
Nine schools offers training in various subjects including Naval Training, Marine Pollution Response, Search & Rescue, Various Naval Operations, Admiralty/Maritime Law, Maritime Priracy Control. I think they may include Marine Forensics later.

"The state has decided to proceed with the Green Energy Corridor (GEC-III) proposal with the Union Ministry of Power to create transmission infrastructure, facilitating bulk power transmission for Green Hydrogen-related renewable energy projects," said George.
Whether Green Energy Corridor (GEC-III) project has plan to construct any new powerline through Westernghats to Green Hydrogen site?

Mangaluru’s ₹8,347-cr maritime boost
Quote:
The recently concluded Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) is expected to bring in investments worth around ₹8,347 crore to the Mangaluru region. The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA), the only major port in Karnataka, exchanged seven memorandums of understanding with various stakeholders.

A majority of the investment proposals are focused on port-led industrialisation, with Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) at the top of the heap.

MRPL has proposed ₹5,000 crore investment in port infrastructure for business development and ₹1,500 crore in its own desalination plant (augmentation of capacity).

NMPA also exchanged MoUs with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (₹800 crore) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (₹500 crore) towards port-led industrialisation.

Sealord Containers Ltd’s MoU focuses on setting up an integrated LPG and bulk liquid POL (petroleum, oil and lubricants) storage facility in Mangaluru. This is expected to attract investments worth ₹500 crore.

NMPA’s MoU with PHPC Associates for installation of tank farms and/or storage infrastructure at New Mangalore Port is expected to attract around ₹47 crore investment.

This true only if offshore solar/wind potential are exploited.

"Distribution Centres - Bidar, Belagavi, Davanagere, Chamarajanagar and Kolar" & "Interconnectivity and Grid Integration" - Why? Iasn't Mangaluru a fully export oriented hub? But I think in Mangaluru cooking oil or palm waste is available easily due to presence of many oil processing industries. Mangaluru: The quality of the talent pool, connectivity, quality of life, lower attrition rate and operational costs, compared to metro cities, attract information technology (IT) companies to set up their satellite offices in Mangaluru.

The recent one to set up an office here is Tech Mahindra, which has been operational for the past six months in the city.

A leading audit, consulting, and tax firm from the United Kingdom is also looking for a new workspace in Mangaluru. Others are in the pipeline and have done an initial survey of the place.

Green hydrogen plant to come up in M’luru
Quote:
Minister George said on a pilot basis, they are planning to generate green hydrogen power in Mangaluru and the State Government will come out with a policy on the same soon. He said earlier, they had planned to set up this plant in Pavagada in Tumakuru district, but Mangaluru appears to be an ideal place because of the sea and port. Stating that Gujarat and Rajasthan have already begun green hydropower generation, he said Karnataka will not be left behind. To begin with, he said the 300 kilo Watt plant will be set up in Mangaluru and added many investors have also shown interest in investing in this field in the state during the recent World Economic Forum in Davos.
If they want to produce Green Hydrogen from sea water then naturally feasibility and all research studies have to be done with sea water.

To a query on the time frame for this project, he said the intention is to take up the ground-breaking process within six months, if KEONICS gets all the technicalities related to the project cleared in six months.

My expectation for 2024-2029 are as follows,

1. National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) 2
2. National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT)
3. Research & Educational Institute associated with Green Hydrogen including Centre of Excellence in Green Hydrogen (CoE-GH)
4. Establisment at least three renouned private institutes including Adani University.

These four are main expectations. Along with these things continued effort to establish IIPE is needed.

Other needs, which can also be considered, are already listed in various earlier posts. On industries, Medical Devices Park.

I also expect support & effort to establishment of AIIMS in Kasaragod by all three Tulunadu MPs.

The increase in height is to prevent flooding of the river bank, prevent erosion, stabilise the bank, and protect adjacent areas from inundation.

India's second AYUSH Sports Medicine Center to come up at Wenlock Hospital
Quote:
Mangaluru: The AYUSH Mission has approved a detailed project report (DPR) to establish the country’s second AYUSH Sports Medicine Center, and Karnataka’s first, in Mangaluru. The center will soon start its operations at the AYUSH Multi-Specialty Hospital within the premises of Wenlock Hospital.

This specialized center will be dedicated to maintaining the health of athletes and will be only the second of its kind in the country, with the first already functioning in Thrissur, Kerala. The Mangaluru center will be unique as it will incorporate all AYUSH disciplines including Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
Quote:
Report Submission

Once the center begins operations, reports on its functioning, the number of athletes benefitting, and the types of treatments provided will be submitted to the Central AYUSH department. Based on these reports, approval for constructing a fully equipped building for the center is expected.

Dr. Mohammad Iqbal, District AYUSH Officer, stated that the land for the center, around 30 cents near the Mangala Stadium, has been identified. An estimated Rs 8 crore will be needed for the construction, with 60% of the funding expected from the Central AYUSH Mission and 40% from the state government.

Mangaluru’s Growing Importance

The establishment of the AYUSH Sports Medicine Center in Mangaluru is driven by two factors: the city’s status as a medical and educational hub, and the growing interest in sports among the youth in Dakshina Kannada district. The center will strengthen Mangaluru’s position as a medical hub and will provide specialized facilities for athletes from across the country.

Operational Framework

The center will include a Fitness Management and Injury Management division, equipped with a fitness lab to assess fitness levels, diet, lifestyle management, and counseling. The Injury Management division will treat joint and muscle injuries sustained during sports activities. The center is expected to attract athletes from various parts of the country, necessitating an international standard facility with a sports laboratory, therapy center, and rest areas.

“Following the approval from the state, the DPR has been sent to the Central AYUSH Mission, which has responded positively. The center will initially start at the AYUSH hospital in Wenlock before expanding further,” said Dr. Anant Desai, Project Director, National AYUSH Mission, Karnataka.
