I lol'd when I saw that RIU hotel font.

I found this about a 26th floor skybar it will have https://www.riu.com/blog/en/this-is-...-will-be-like/ - adding to the amazing collection of Chicago's rooftop bars. You can see from some of the photos that the skybar is going to have an overhanging glass floor like Willis.

Also a bunch of renderings of the inside - very posh : https://www.riu.com/en/hotel/usa/chi...plaza-chicago/

Anyone know if the lower balcony by the street is going to be a restaurant? That would be an amazing place to sit if so.

looks like caesar's palace on the outside. The inside is a jumble of styles and will probably come out cheap (e.g. knockoff Wegner chairs in the renderings).

Truly an inspired amenity to offer drunk customers

Demolition equipment on site at 400 N. Elizabeth.

Looks like they're tearing up the parking lot.

I noticed Ald. LaSpata filed an ordinance to give tax breaks to a new building planned for 1628 W Division. I thought the proposal was dead, but I looked at the updated PD and it seems to still be alive

140 ft | 154 units | 131 parking spots

Ordinance: https://chicityclerkelms.chicago.gov...A-001DD804F643
PD: https://gisapps.chicago.gov/gisimage...pds/PD1441.pdf

I believe that area was earmarked for a coffee shop/breakfast room for guests when the design was presented to the community a few years back.

I think the 131 number includes the parking that already exists in the PD, which is most of it.

Yeah, according to this article on YIMBY, only 24 new parking spaces will be added.

https://chicagoyimby.com/2024/07/67775.html

Edit: The article also mentions only 121 units compared to 154 above so the numbers on this one seem weird.

I was gonna say, how the hell will they fit 131 vehicles in a first-floor garage in a building of that size?
