Interesting, kind of assumed that this project was dead. Glad to hear it is moving forward.

We have zero reason to envy Boise.

And we have the Jets.
I'll be fair and say I envy that crime rate lol. Winnipeg with 2 murders a year would damn near perfection lol

I get it, but honestly murder is not really a great stat to look at in terms of overall safety - at least in Winnipeg.

Unless you hang around with or live with a murderer, or participate in higher risk activities - I believe the stats would indicate you aren't going to be a murder victim.

I have an old friend who's a DC with WPS and he's told our group a few times - 'look, unless you're ganged up, involved in the sex trade, or make the wise decision to walk through Hell's Half Acre at 2 in the morning, the average Winnipeger has a near-zero chance of being a victim of violent crime'. Now, he said that before the fentanyl crisis, but Winnipeg isn't alone in that one either, so people need to keep things in perspective.

Not listed as a heritage building I believe, but warehouse across the street was built in 1914 and I would assume this building would be around the same time. Sad to see it go. It was either extreme sloppiness or intentional. I would love to know the whole story.

News reports on July 12 are saying a city demo permit has been issued for the 579 Mc Dermott Ave building that is caving in, and demo is scheduled to start by July 15.

I wonder if the developer will restart from a brownfield lot or leave it as another empty lot being a blight in the area?

What ever money they spent on the interior work and the new windows I saw on the news reports are long gone with the demo.

Housing Accelerator Fund applications opened on Thursday. It will be very interesting to see who gets the money. There is a huge number of interested applicants and not a lot of money. It’s a shame the province isn’t matching. They shouldn’t get a free pass. Housing is provincial. They will announce in September.

I hope they choose the best projects instead of giving a little money to several. That won’t incentivize projects. They need the $5m cap.

From the CentrePlan 2050 document. What if scenario renderings...just build it.

Graham Ave (Sky City site)

Donald south of St Mary's

I saw those renders. Got my heart pumping haha oh if only we could get something done like that in the next decade. Donald at St. Mary would be awesome as I work close by.
