I hate those silver aluminium corners. Like, why? Different colour and material that isn't used anywhere else in the project. Looks so out of place.

They should've just carried the wood accents up the corners of the podium.

What is the obsession in this city to throw as many random materials on a building and calling it a day?

Not just this city - covering buildings with a half dozen different materials seems to be the trend everywhere. Don't know why.

IMO it's an architectural language that will look very dated someday. Even in my suburban neighbourhood, my house looks out of place for having just a couple tones fo stone and stucco. Other people have like 10 materials!

Ottawa fire is reporting that a "Shoring wall" has collapsed at a construction site in the 1300 block of Carling ave leaving a worker injured. From the photo in the link it looks like it's the Travelodge site.

Tell that to the clear anodized railings on this building, who, if I were one of these railings, I'd be embarrassed for standing out so strongly, but I'm a natural introvert by nature

For reference, below, it's not impossible for developments in Ottawa to get it right. Note that careful selection of aluminum finishes is not impossible, and *gasp* the colour can vary on the same building! *shouts from the crowd* 'say it ain't so!' 'won't somebody please think of the children!'

COVERED balcony slab edges, mixed with uncovered with a membrane? for shame! *sarcasm*

Note: This is the correct way to vary colours and design language to break up a building, fool the eye into thinking you've got multiple small buildings. Claridge, take note. It's not just barfing materials onto an elevation and thinking a collage will do just fine.

But I'm not bitter... lol
