Finally. For the first time this year I actually went in past my knees. Still though, it was only 22 today. So although I took a full dip in, I didn't actually swim. Saturday was sunny and warmer, but breezy all day. Made swimming intolerable. Annoying when you can't even use a beach umbrella out of fear of it blowing away and striking someone.
Of course, tomorrow will actually be hot, just in time for when I will no longer be there, meaning I miss out of the prime beach and swimming weather again.
The beach on Saturday is only a couple kms north of our regular beach. It had a yellow film from the shore to 15 feet out. It actually stuck on my shins and dried up when I came out. Sunday at our regular spot, no such issue. So close yet two different types of experiences.
You've heard of a crimson tide on the Gulf coast, for which the U of Alabama is named? What is this, a yellow tide? Maybe a maize tide? The U of Michigan's nick name is the maize 'n blue. Instead of the Wolverines, maybe they could have been the maize tide. They actually just beat the Crimson Tide of Alabama in the semis en route to the national championship in football.
