Cultural output would be a pretty good measure. Lots of ways to measure that economic output would be a good proxy but that might value US cultural output above Italy which many would debate. It's pretty clear we are far behind on most cultural measures for sure. But we shouldn't sell ourselves short we can hold our own against quite a few larger and even some economically powerful countries. Places like Singapore have almost no culture and China and India both have a lot less impact if you are measuring per capita.
