So as we can see, French people in French Canada (particularly in the Montréal area) tend to be disproportionately leftist woke youths, i.e. your typical QS voter in Québec. Less sleek white collar and more bohemian type.
The far-right is also more represented in Québec City and Moncton than in the rest of North America (so probably some older families there, shocked by the rampant Islamisation going on in France), whereas Montréal is just young woke crowd.
The far-right candidates had their highest share of votes in Miami (31.5%) and Québec City (23.7%). In Miami it's probably due to retired French Jews who now massively support the far-right whom they see as a protection against the antisemite excesses of the French far-left. In Québec City it's probably due to long established French families who don't like how France is becoming more and more Islamic like I've said.
The Green far-left candidate had the lowest share of votes in Miami (11.8%) and the highest share in Montréal (49.9%). Overall, French citizens in Canada (even those in Toronto and Vancouver) voted way way more for this far-left candidate than French citizens in the US. Like what a surprise...
The Macron centrist candidate got the highest share of votes in NYC (52.7%), the San Francisco Bay Area (51.7%) and Boston (51.3%). In comparison this same candidate got only 28.5% of votes in Montréal (lowest share of votes in all of North America) and 39.9% in Toronto. I think you can clearly see which sorts of French expats Montréal and Toronto get, as opposed to those who go live in NYC, Boston, or Silicon Valley.
Fascinating snapshot these election results.
