I'll be visiting this cemetery next week, unfortunately, to inter the ashes of my grand-maman. She'll be reuinited with my grand-papa who was never alive in my lifetime but whose grave I would visit every summer trip to Boucherville. I always found it a peaceful place.

A few pictures from one most here would've never seen. The French islands of St. Pierre et Miquelon off our coast.

There is a large marker in Beechwood with the graves of two seemingly unrelated men, both of whom immigrated to Ottawa from the same town in Scotland in the 19th century. I've always wondered ...

I love to visit cemeteries, and when I travel, I almost always manage to work in a visit to a cemetery somewhere. They can be architecturally interesting ... so many styles ... and sometimes quite beautiful and sometimes amazingly ugly. They all remind me that ultimately, we are all forgotten, which is for me a very liberating thought.

The Old Burial Ground in downtown Halifax (corner of Barrington and Spring Garden) is quite interesting. It contains a lot of markers and tombs dating from the founding of the city, as well as the imposing Sebastopol Monument

It is the only memorial to the Crimean War in Canada.

Thanks. She was my last and favourite grandparent and was scheduled to fly to Calgary in March 2020 but that never happened (pandemic). Wanted so badly for her to meet my kids.

The topic of funeral services is one that hits close to home for many of us at some point. It's good to see a discussion going on about different options out there
