I know someone who works at Amazon fulfilment centers, and The management told them they will be starting on the new Amazon warehouse in Regina and the near future

I was pleasantly surprised to see the city had aerial photos done again this year. They are supposed to be done every 2 years but because of a screwup in 2022 they were re-done last year. I thought they might skip this year, but nope, photos on the oblique imagery site from around April 20 and May 15, 2024.

The site is very frustrating to use since you can only see the newest photos when zoomed in quite close. And its slow, and if you veer out of bounds it throws a fit and you have to reload the page. It usually takes months before the overhead mosaic is available. https://opengis.regina.ca/Pictometry...on=-104.604772

A few screenshots.

Added a few more of several of the multi-unit housing projects that popped up in the past year.

Steel starting to go up for south Albert ring road bridge rebuild. Looking back at photos of last year's construction they appear to be a month ahead of the first bridge. First steel went up July 8th last year.

Council voted heavily in favour of approving the five-storey 90 unit project that has received significant pushback from area residents, only Ward 5 Coun. John Findura voted against the project

This is a good step. I didn't expect it to pass with such a majority. I thought it was good that Admin flat out said it's not our job to make sure the public consents to every project. This is true. Sometimes it's about what is good for the city as a whole and this is only the first community to see a big infill project.

Regina Public Library to seek help from city for new central location
The library management board is pretty stupid. They say construction cost of risen. Why didn’t they build it for years ago? Why wait until now to ask money from the city? They’re so stupid

Tender out to finally build a pathway in the gap between the Candy Cane Park and Wascana Hill so there will be a complete loop around the entirety of Wascana Park.

This was badly needed.

With The Bay closing next spring, they should look at taking over that space.

A few random pics. I'll probably add more to the same gallery if I get out tomorrow. General parkade looks to be about 3/4 assembled.

While I was looking at the city's website I saw a link to this: https://www.regina.ca/news/City-Turn...th-a-blue-lid/
The city is going to start using the old full size brown carts as recycling bins by putting a blue lid on them. So if you keep filling up your blue bin you might be able to convince the city to swap it out with one of those larger ones.

The blue bins were only ever one size so I don't see how swapping changes anything.

The blue bins aren't quite as big as the old brown bins. I saw the two side by side today and the blue is a bit shorter.
