Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | Waterfront Toronto l u/c

Wonderful drone tour by @hawc of the new river valley, wetlands and bridges… near the end of the video starting at the 4:15 mark, the drone tracks along the huge children’s playground that is u/c (for nearly a full minute ;-).

Construction of Quebec City's new police headquarters was recently completed. Pretty decent looking building.

Added bonus: the old police headquarters will be demolished, allowing the Victoria Park to be expanded quite significantly.

Amazing drone set from @hawc. It's rare to see the entire bones of a new build, but thanks to the bankruptcy of the glass block curtain-wall supplier... we get these views.

Great drone tour from Waterfront Toronto of achievements (including what parks... are where) and future steps.

Rendering of the completed project with a new community on Villiers Island.

My Villiers Island penthouse is on the south-west corner of the terracotta tower in the centre of the pic, over-looking the parks and Cherry Street North bridge.

You'd think with all the engineering that goes into creating those column-free corners every 6 floors, they'd make them open terraces instead of hiding them behind more glass. We've seen enough fake surface-applied diagrids that I really hate to see real ones underplayed and mistaken for the former

This image is a good way to sum up my local areas construction. There's 8 residential buildings going up in the distance, all in one pocket. 2 of them are covered by the big concrete grid tower, which finished only two years ago.
Oh, and a new crane popped up for a condo project a street north of all this development.
And next to where I photographed this, is a development site for a project which has repeatedly been launched to limited sales due to the pandemic and subsequent housing market troubles in the city.

The corners still have columns though, all be it thin ones.

Aqualuna looks to have excellent quality workmanship and should only get more interesting as people move in. Is the plan still to ‘shrub-ify ’ the exterior to the same degree shown in the renders?
