Great story on this building on CBC today. 111m they say makes it the tallest. I also think this is a good piece to help the public adjust to taller!

It's going to look great once they fit the balcony glass.

Would be wonderful to see a high-density node evolve here in time with the West End mall future growth area, and man that would be a tidy spot to have a commuter/LRT rail stop if ever Halifax can negiotiate some kind of usage of the rail corridor.

Indeed, the ideal spot. There could also be a second stop on a Via service considering how big the population of this area towards Fairview and CP might be some day.

I always struggle seeing rentals at price points like that ... I supposed there is a small pool of customers (influencers, high net worth individuals who like to move often, those who want a modern/chic highrise unit)

But seriously ... If I had the cashflow for $16k/month home expense ... I would surely use that on a mortgage on a nice house in the south end, or one of those really nice waterfront compounds out in Herring cove. I wonder if I speak for the majority with that theoretical preference (not that i have any illusions about my likelihood of affording such a home notwithstanding).

So what happens to prices when the feds clamp down on immigration and the resulting decline in the market for rental and ownership of units. The reduction in foreign students and refugees and demand will swiftly dissipate. People under 35 are bearing the brunt of lousy decisions by Trudeau.

Clamp down on immigration? Unlikely. Well, perhaps temp... until after the next federal election. The message that ~17 million of us are going to die-off in the next ~20 years is not one that wins elections.

Even without massive immigration, our currency will continue to devalue fueling further nominal price gains in perpetuity. Best you could hope for would be a brief drop followed by new highs. Probably!

Why do developers keeping doing this? I have yet to see it not look tacky. But I'll hold my opinion until the build is complete.

Personally I feel "tacky" would just be lining every balcony with LED all the way around, that small strip in the inset of the balconies on the way up looks light and airy, kinda fun.. I can't wait to see a photo when it's all lit up the whole way from out on the water looking up the NW Arm at night, I think that'll look pretty awesome.

I like the way it accentuates the main 'styling feature' of the building. I agree that it will look great!
