11th and Olive goes up against DLANC tomorrow. Hoping for a swift approval. It would still need to go up against the city council after, correct?

Looks like it got cut to 51 stories, so probably around ~600 feet.

As far as 800 footers go though here's an article about Angels Landing from April this year.

Yes...It's showing 603 feet. This could be pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure its always been 51 stories. Are you thinking of the Crescent Heights Tower? That one is 70.

No idea what is up with it though? Crescent Heights relatively recently filed plans for a high-rise in Ktown, so it doesn't seem like they are ditching LA in the same way they ditched Seattle, but their downtown tower has been quiet since 2021. ZIMAS marks it as "on hold", whatever that means...

You'd think from their website that 1045 S Olive and 11th & Olive are the same building. They may not be but that's sure confusing.

Hmm, it appears it may be a different one, unless it's the newer version. Are they right next to each other perhaps?

I believe 4th and Central broke ground? Drove by it 4 hours ago and saw a bulldozer on site.

They're two different projects, right across the street from each other.

Are you talking about the Los Angeles Convention Center? I read the article but its expansion doesn't seem like a for sure thing. And, for it to be Olympics ready, it would have to be completed by March 2028... which I guess is doable but I would think that construction would have to be started like yesterday.

Here's the article: City staff recommend completing L.A. Convention Center expansion before 2028 Olympics

Was it approved or finance? I'd imagine they're starting with the smaller buildings if so.

That'd be epic.

Ah, CH's site is confusing then, as I believe the picture is of the taller 800 footer.

I hope the smaller one kickstarts the big dawg.

I thought I'd bump this post since we are currently discussing the project but the name is so bland and non-descriptive that many of us forgot what it was!

I highly doubt 4th and Central is breaking ground yet. According to ZIMAS it hasn't even been approved.

They are likely clearing the lot to make way for the project, which is a very good sign, but I wouldn't expect to see actual construction starting any time soon. Hopefully I am proven wrong.

Edit: Supposedly they are aiming for a 2025 groundbreaking, should the approvals go through.

Yeah, Newsome had a big speech about this project specifically, getting state and city agencies to "cut red tape to streamline mixed use developments like this that are surely needed". I'm sure it'll be pushed through, but the pressure is on for them to build as is since the spotlight is on all parties involved right now, which might be a good thing for us all and further help that area of downtown.

It's always funny when politicians fix problems that they helped create and then expect a pat on the back for doing so.
