Via Avanti Complex in Sherman Oaks

Via Avanti Complex adjacent to Sherman Oaks Galleria. Taking shape noticeably on Sepulveda Blvd and 101 freeway . This is going to be a great addition to the area.

Anyone know what’s going on with the Bank of Hope tower on Vermont?

Is it undergoing residential conversion? Has worked stalled?

The development in Sherman Oaks looks huge in person lol. Def will inject some activity into that mall nearby.

Whatever it is, definitely seems like it's stalled. I just don't know what it is (assuming its a resi conversion)

Progress photos of LACMA.

I'm in the minority but I think it's looking good and it finally brings the whole campus together.

I like the design and the whole notion of crossing Wilshire. I just wish it had another story above it, at least on each end of the project. Add 50% to 100% more space would solve a lot of criticisms.

It's going to look great. I think the window frames are really that little touch that make it all look classier.

Agreed, I think most people think the design is good, the criticism I've seen is the reduction in gallery space. I do wish they could have added 50%-100% more space like you mention.

It will still be a large, very cool museum when it opens one day. Also there is room for expansion where Levitated Mass sits now. I might be the minority here, but I think that thing is so overrated and is a terrible use of space. I hope they get rid of it one day and build a nice expansion.

I love how it brings the park and the museum together in a way that makes both better, where before the campus turned its back on the park. I think the new ground level has the makings of being possibly the best public space in LA.

I'm excited!

That elevated mass area is taking so much useless space. We need to be done with that exhibit. That could be so much needed park space.

Just wanted to say that I think the new LACMA is too small AND looks bad! Really bummed out about it and disgusted every time I walk over to catch a movie at the Academy Museum

Not a skyscraper but interesting all the same:

Costco's bold new plan for the California housing crisis
The American retail giant is starting to think even bigger

Rendering of planned Costco mixed-use site at 5035 Coliseum St., Los Angeles. Thrive Living

Costco, the international bulk grocery chain known for its warehouse looks and difficult-to-beat deals, is hard at work on what could be considered its biggest new product launch in years: affordable housing.

An approved upcoming Costco location in South Los Angeles (the Baldwin Village/Crenshaw area specifically) is slated to open in the coming years, and it combines the company’s more-is-more brand with a novel new approach to residential construction. The project, to be built by developer Thrive Living and architects AO, was first announced early last year in a press release that revealed renderings of a mixed-use model with multiple floors, open courtyard spaces and other amenities. All told, the build would encompass not only the Costco store (and necessary parking) but a whopping 800 residential units, including 184 set aside specifically for low-income tenants.

What the renderings don’t show, though, is the complicated — and ingenious — way that Thrive Living is actually putting the Costco development together. [Note: modular units].

Got some bad news. The 40 story K-Town tower (https://la.urbanize.city/post/la-cit...oreatown-tower) has been downsized to an 8 story building.

Damn, these are the developers with the tower in chinatown. Probably will see that downsize as well. What a shame.
