Yup. Chris Christie did more harm to the region's economy and mobility than even Dump. He cut NJ Transit's Manhattan-bound rail capacity in half.
If you look at the regional sales prices, you see NJ prices were comparable to NY and CT until Christie made the decision. Since then, NY and CT prices have appreciated far ahead of NJ. It's mobility. If you work in the region's core, it's better to live in NY and CT than NJ.
And the new Amtrak tunnel, while it will help, will not fix the issue. This is an Amtrak tunnel. Christie cancelled a NJ Transit tunnel. Amtrak controls the new tunnel, and they plan on doubling service. NJ will have added capacity, but nothing like with the previously u/c ARC tunnel. NJ will eventually have to build its own tunnel.
