I like the FUA metric because it gives Moncton an extra 50,000 people, and pushes us up to #20 in the national rankings!!

given an FUA of 240,000 last year, as of now, given our growth rate, Moncton is probably over a quarter million!!!

According to my own estimates, Quebec City CMA should be around 906 000 right now.

^I would think there is room for both in a city close to a million.
I still think of QC as a city of half a million (but I’m old)

- even though I know it’s been larger than that for quite some time.
Would be fun to rekindle the Montreal vs QC rivalry from the old Habs vs Nords days.

And blocked previous attempts to locate a team there. Hopefully one day, Quebec City will be able to support Laval and CFL. The province of Quebec is a good football market and too big for just the Alouettes. I'd love to see the CFL expand, but not at the expense of the Rouge et Or. Unlike most university football in Canada, they're culturally important.

Probably facing similar problems to Winnipeg. A lot of our ills in the city can be traced to neglect of indigenous people. Here's something a lot of people in the RoC won't know, reserves in MB, SK, NU and Northern ONT frequently banish their troublemakers and mentally ill to Winnipeg, basically dumping them on the street for the shelters to deal with. Lack of reserve economic activity and general despair on reserve are the major drivers of Winnipeg crime imo, since most do the violent crime is gang on gang and most of the property crime is to feed the addictions of the homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. This isn't a shot against indigenous people, it's to be expected that that much trauma combined with zero opportunity will breed bad situations. If it was white people, SE Asians, Africans, etc in the same circumstances the same thing would be happening in those populations. The Feds and the Chiefs need to do their jobs.

You see this phenomenon in many "Northern Gateway" cities. Prince Albert, Thunder Bay, and Prince George have similar issues as they are often the nearest community with services and shelter (or the only destination when one is served a one-way ticket out of the community).

Sadly many of these cities are also means of distributing illicit materials/paraphernalia to the North.... And guess who often finds employment and acceptance with the gangs/drug runners when all other options are exhausted?

Exactly. There's a reason Saskatoon, Edmonton and Winnipeg are all seeing similar spikes in crime and similar numbers in terms of crime severity. People in Eastern Canada need to realize that the crime in Western Canada is a responsibility of all Canadians to deal with as it is largely driven by despair on reserve, ie federal jurisdiction. Now how you do that is beyond me. First step in my opinion would be to abandon the reserves that are willing to do so voluntarily and relocate them where there are actual jobs and services. If they aren't willing to move then the Feds should do whatever they can to actually get people jobs. Call centres and digital work via satellite internet maybe?
