Mine too. It's mindblowing to see how tiny it is compared to the buildings towards the right.

First off, the Austin model I've made: 300 Colorado

Older picture of the models I've drawn from scratch, missing 3 towers. Far-right are the non-Austin ones. 33 Tehama from San Fransisco and Texas Tower from Houston are the additions.

Older picture of my Houston skyline. One of my modeling friends has been working on these intermittently for the past few years. I made the Texas Tower in appreciation for the work they've done there. There are a few more models from there that I have printed out for assembly, but they are the intricate ones. (looking at you, Heritage and Enterprise Plazas )

Model from Toronto I made, Residences at 488 University.

I assembled some New York big boys and had some fun making them loom over a sea of sub-200m buildings.

And my most recent model, the Rainier Square block of Seattle.

I do want to finish up some more Austin blocks but my ADHD keeps shifting my attention to starting new buildings. Below are the Austin ones I have started, but have not completed.

Sienna at the Thompson
Block 42
Colorado Tower
44 East/Natiivo
The Quincy
Four Seasons/San Jacinto

How about y'all tell me which 2 you'd like to see completed first? Nothing like some good public pressure to get my attention focused.

Holy, your 3D model is BEAUTIFUL

Why 33 Tehama out of all the San Francisco buildings lmao. Funny though, two of my friends used to live there

Thank you!

Another modeler had already made a huge chunk of SF, but mostly the Market Street area. I wanted to make something from the city to add to his work, so I was browsing the Soma side, and the colors caught my eye as well as being something easy to make.

Oh, man, I love the idea that you can group the skylines together. Seeing Austin back there in the Houston skyline model is pretty cool.

That shot of the WTC in the Austin skyline is incredible. Comparing Frost to the twin towers gives you a real sense of scale.

No kidding. The mast atop the north tower was taller than the Texas Capitol - 360 feet tall, and it was more than twice as tall as the Moonlight Towers in Austin.

I went up to the top of the south tower back in 1999. That was surreal.

Those new towers in Midtown Manhattan look like they could blow over with a strong wind. Toothpick skinny - crazy!

I'm very eager to see how Waterline turns out with the rest of our skyline. While we have the renderings, seeing it in the flesh at full height will be something else.

These models are awesome, Jake! Keep 'em coming!

Y'all, I haven't updated this thread in a while.

Just a sneak peek of what's to come soon:

Big huge base map of the city.
Completed three blocks:
Brazos Lofts Block
UT System Block
Indeed Tower Block

Almost done with Sienna at the Thompson

Non-Austin Drawings:
Almost done with Guangzhou IFC (what a headache of a project)
Salesforce Tower (SF)

I do plan on focusing more on the Austin downtown area. I reached out to the developers of all the U/C big towers to see if they would share some basic 3D models I could base my drawings on, but no bites. So if anyone has any connections... let me know. I'll have to stick with completed buildings otherwise.

Look forward to seeing new updates. Almost gave up like I did with Kevins Google Earth buildings.

Would you (or anyone who has time) be able to take a quick video of the alleyway behind Sienna @ Thompson? Google maps isn't updated for it, the only Streetview imagery is from before it was built.

If not, that's fine, I can always just guess. But I do like to be accurate with Austin...

jack.robs Rocks! I too am looking forward, As Always, to any of your photo updates.

The wordy ones just leave me with too much anticipation...just like the commercials of yore about ketchup.

Holy crap, dude! Those are awesome.

The Tower Life Building is one of my favorites in the world. You've done it justice. Looking forward to your next Austin streetscape too.
