The engineers aren't stupid. They know the solution and have for 20 years.

Blame the politicians for not paying for it.

The country should focus less on international students from India (many of whom are here falsely and not even studying) and perhaps get back to taking care of the current situation here before allowing absurd numbers of people in. Immigration is necessary, but the sheer volume of people coming into the country is exacerbating all the problems we are currently facing.
Literally all political parties have been pushing for more immigration... seems to be one of the few things they all agree on.

Thank you that plant is absolutely massive. I believe it’s 350 acres, which is a lot of land

They really should explain the reason for it, but they seem to be afraid to. Its all about the demographic timebomb of falling birthrates. How many kids did your grandparents have, how many kids are families having now? Without immigration there is a risk of Japan style population and economic stagnation. You end up with a country of the elderly with more retirees supported by each working taxpayer.

Indeed. And the fertility rate keeps dropping despite attempts by many governments around the world to stop it. the decline is even happening in middle-income countries as well as parts of the developing world

I figured I'd collect some free stainless nuts and bolts, but they didn't make it easy.

planned investments have been announced for this summer.
Regina Mayor Sandra Masters says the grant will be used for things like adding murals, landscaping enhancements, ongoing entertainment, alongside increased road and sidewalk maintenance and enhanced cleaning.
She adds that the goal is to encourage more people downtown to experience the restaurants, businesses and amenities that are there.
They need a lot more than this. They need Construction to start on buildings. There’s been nothing in decades. They haven’t have a clue how stupid they are.

Then maybe they shouldn't be also pushing the family reunification plan and having grandparents brought to Canada when we know the baby boomers are going to outnumber the care home spaces we have and put extra stress on healthcare.

Regulatory certainty called vital to Regina project’s future

We’re talking about a multibillion-dollar project here, so you don’t make those decisions without having everything complete. It’s not just a roll-the-dice.”

Still, he said it will be done.

He described the project as generational and with the potential to transform the province.

Cornwall Centre as new central branch location so far just a rumour: Library CEO
If they decide to put a Library at this site it’s not really a library. It’s more like a branch stupid can they be putting a library central library for a large city and an old mall? They’re so stupid. Libraries are supposed to make a statement not the other way around

I actually think it's not a bad idea—tonnes of square footage, frees up other land downtown for potential commercial/residential construction, and they can renovate the street-facing side (and make it the primary entrance).

Putting the library in the Cornwall is a brilliant idea that both invigorates the commercial hub of downtown Regina while also utilizing existing buildings and saving the tax payers money. In a winter-heavy climate such as Regina's, having an indoor space where people can gather, socialize, eat, shop and enjoy all of the services a central library can offer without having to step outside into the -40 weather is a winning idea.

If the Library DOESN"T relocate to the Cornwall Centre all parties involved with the City Administration and the RPL Board should be fired, as the only reason it wouldn't go there is to serve the special interests of a crony or donor.

Backfilling 180,000 SF in what is largely a dead mall that still also has vacancy from Sears departure would be absolutely an abomination of sound business and planning for the downtown core.

Timbo isn't there to use as a scape goat on this one.

The Mall isn't that big to begin with, without backfilling it immediately it will be a death knell to Downtown.
