Interesting Colors

I was in town for the eclipse and captured this image of 6G from Republic Square:

Any ideas what those colors might be?

Looks like some reds, blues, yellows, purples, and even a little greens. Joking aside, maybe just how the glass is refracting the sunlight?

I was wondering if that was an accidental artifact of the material that was used for the railing/separators or was it by design? Whatever it was, it looked pretty cool.

Refraction off the glass edges. You get different colors depending on the viewing angle. Pretty cool!

It bothers me SOOOOOO MUCH that the top frosted light strip is all uneven--some panels darker than others. Anyone else hate that? Like just do a solid evenly lit lighting feature or don't do anything at all.

Monarch is still my fav resi tower in town with the best lighting.

Agree 100%. Not only with 6X but one of Austin's most iconic towers the former Franklin Federal Building (I'll always remember it as that, is dark. What a waste. Plus Frost Bank is very unreliable with its lighting, sometimes its on one night, the next is dark. Not to mention Fairmont, they don't even bother to light the spire.

101 Congress I think is the address. Where the Fairground is.

Couldn't agree more. Brings me back to the good old days with that blue neon that was ALWAYS on.

That blue was beautiful, except during the cricket season when the sidewalks around the building were covered with dead crickets all the time. They loved the lighting too.

Frost Bank I think they turn it off after a certain time for the Dark Skies initiative.

Thought this forum would appreciate that the Google Maps model includes the glass streaks:

Roof lighting is difficult, expensive, and complicated which is why you don't see it on every building. They are troubleshooting the lighting and the intent to have all the lights burning at the same intensity is what everyone will end up with. I can tell you from personal experience that when one fixture or string of fixtures fails somehow, getting replacements involves long lead times and technical work in the elements in a difficult environment. This building just opened a few months ago so there are kinks to be worked out - like the stain on the side that everyone loved to talk about so much. Most developers hope to sell their buildings for a profit at the end of the day so are generally aligned with comments on this forum, everything needs to be working and of a high quality to get the best price. External factors cannot be controlled easily by mere mortals.
