Oof that's a major height decrease. However it's still tall enough to take the crown of tallest residential from Central Park Tower.

If this tower were to be completed, then that would make it the tallest tower in not just South America, but all of Latin America!!!

It's pretty crazy that Brazil's tallest buildings are in a city that's not even in the top 15 in population.

Ha! Yes, it's a mouthful...especially when you say it in singy songy Portuguese. It roughly translates to The Baths of Camboriu. I've actually been to Brazil many times (and am going again in July), but, have yet to go to this city as my family lives north of there in Minas Gerais.

The largest cities in Brazil, Sao Paulo, Rio, Brasilia, Salvador, Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte, Recife, Manaus, Porto Alegre and Curitiba, are cities that have very strict zoning laws, preventing the height of new developments from exceeding the determined limit.

There are varied justifications for this view: Shadow over the beach in the largest coastal cities, protection of historic buildings, reduction in vehicle traffic, reduction in gentrification, etc.

But we know that this is not the case, especially in cities that have skyscrapers and supertalls in harmony with other buildings, landscapes, urban traffic and people.

According to the 2022 IBGE Census, Balneário Camboriú or simply BC has 139,155 inhabitants with 672,298 of metro (2018). It has a floating population of around 450,000 inhabitants who seek out the city for vacation purposes.

There is high freedom and practically no limitations. The city is also attracting intl. investors, companies and celebrities, focusing on luxury housing and for people with high purchasing power who also wish to invest in the city's real estate market.

Tourists can benefit from it too. There are interesting new entertainment options and events emerging in the city due to investments.

World's Tallest Apartment Block Gets Green Light

Aug 02, 2024

The city of Balneário Camboriú in southeast Brazil has officially approved the construction of the Triumph Tower, which will stand at a staggering 1,785 feet, making it the world's tallest residential building.

Balneário Camboriú, situated in the state of Santa Catarina, is a major tourist hotspot, drawing over a million visitors during the summer months despite its relatively small permanent population of 150,000.

The city's iconic Barra Sul waterfront, known for its stunning high-rises, will soon host the Triumph Tower, adding another landmark to its skyline. "The future is great, and we are ready to build it," Graciola said according to specialist publication Construction Review, highlighting the optimism surrounding this ambitious project.

The city of Balneário Camboriú in southeast Brazil has approved the construction of the 544m-tall Triumph Tower, which, if completed, would be the world’s tallest residential building.

It’s set to be located on the Barra Sul waterfront, already home to some of South America’s tallest buildings, including the two 294m Yachthouse towers and the 290m One Tower.

It looks strange and out of place.. But only for now... I am sure once one tower of this height goes ahead you'll probably see a whole new race in the city for supremacy or at least a shot at second tallest!

Do we know if the shadow tower to the right is an active proposal?
