Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

DZH22, I didn't know you visit Monhegan! That's a real local place, you gotta go out of your way to get there. Do you take the Boothbay Harbor ferry? Port Clyde?

For context, I have an uncle and cousin who berth in Round Pond, Pemaquid. For a few years in the 90s my uncle berthed in Boothbay Harbor too. It's a good 6-8 hours from both to Monhegan by wind alone.

I have only been that one time but we took the ferry out of Port Clyde. It was right after those Port Clyde buildings burned down so there was a bit of sadness surrounding the place. The island itself is a very lovely getaway, but there were no public tv's to watch the Patriots game!

I liked sitting up on the benches by the lighthouse and looking down on everything, plus we found another semi-secluded spot with a couple of chairs down near the water. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was being on the boat itself. I like looking at the ocean but not being on it or in it.

I had never seen a total eclipse before. I was in the path of totality on Monday. I’ve still never seen a total eclipse. Clouds. Had to settle for a minute of eerie darkness.

My eclipse shots from Canada!

Went to Kouchibougauc National park, set up shop on the Fishermans refuge.

Take with my iPhone 14 Pro, using the Vaonis Hestia Telescope (hence the watermark).

And my set up (minus the beer), I brought my Canon R w/ 250mm with me as well, but forgot the damn SD card :

My second time experiencing totality and it's just as insane, will be in Calgary in 2044 and Florida in 2046!

I did get to see the annular (Ring of Fire) eclipse last October. So did my dog.
