So we have a demo permit, a tower crane permit, and temp power permit. Anything else we're missing?

Actual work being done. Even though the site plan for this project was filed in 2016, I believe there have been various proposals for the site dating back to ~2009. The site is cursed.

I park in Swede Hill and walk by this site every day as I head to Capital Factory (Omni). I am so excited to see it all take shape over the next 2-3 years. Incredible opportunity for the city. This area has so much to offer. Waterloo Park, Moody Center, DKR, Red River, Blanton, North Capital Mall Complex, East Side…

This looks much nicer than other previous renderings. Also, there doesn’t appear to be any above grade parking. It’s a winner in my opinion.

It's been wild to me that this project has seen so many delays. Given what's going to be happening in this quadrant of the city in the next decade or so, a hotel here is a no brainer.

Oh, and you didn't hear it from me, but the Sheraton is undergoing a $70M renovation, and will be rebranding into a Renaissance at the beginning of 2024.

FYI, when no one was looking they completely bulldozed Brick Oven Pizza. The site is completely clear as of my drive in this morning.

Very nice. Looks like a residential condo building. Isn't it unusual for hotels to have balconies that large?

Are those balconies large?

New build hotels generally aren't built with balconies at all, so this is a departure -- if the rendering is correct.

Balconies = liability.

Well yes. Emphasis on new builds. All the old stuff built in the 80's-90's still has a lot of hot balcony action.

A lot of them closed/inaccessible though.

I seem to recall an incident in Vegas some years ago where someone fell from the Imperial Palace, and since then it seems newer hotels don't build with balconies and older ones are closed or removed.

An FAA filing from a couple weeks ago for the building has a 03/04/2024 start date for construction.

The balconies should have nice view of amphitheater and park. Perfect hotel to stay at if going to a concert. It will be nice to see more rise in this area!

Today is March 4th. Anybody got eyes on the site? Might need to go check it out myself before SXSW starts on Friday.

I posted a recent photo of the Health South Demo in that project's thread, and the 12th & RR site was visible. So as of a week ago, nothing was happening at this site.

Still nothin', except for a AT&T mobile cellular tower parked on the site for SXSW.
