Thank god that never happened.....

The Sears Tower is meant to tower above and overlook the city with a sense of masculinity. Black is the only color acceptable for this building.

^Yeah. . . I think that was a Smith+Gill academic exercise. . . they also wanted to build a tall hotel on the south/west corner of the plaza. . .

I'm glad they didn't do that, there's plenty of silver and silver-blue buildings out there, Sears Tower doesn't deserve to end up looking like just another one of them. Sears's look is unique and badass, don't mess it up!

I Don't think it was a serious proposal that was ever considered by the building owners. . . someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it was more of a concept piece done by S+G to gather attention for the newly minted firm. . .
