Lake St. Clair

We did a little perch fishing, got about seven or eight keepers, here's a few

Any time I go fishing using soft plastics, aka rubber worms, and there's small fishing yanking it multiple times in rapid succession (too big for them to take it), it's usually perch. They are small, but feisty. And a pretty fish. Never actually ate one before but they look like good eats. I never target them. I would if I was patient enough to clean them. Or if there was a good population of jumbo perch to target.

You have to try perch sometime, probably my favourite fish to eat. I'm not a big fisherman, but we generally fish for perch and pickerel (walleye) from a boat using a pickerel rig and worms or small minnows. That's considered old-school but it works, others are using plastics with a drop shot. Prime time for perch is September to October. If it ever freezes over, you can catch a ton of perch ice fishing too

Perhaps my niece should have kept this one! Lol.

Went fishing three times over the past few days. Penetang Harbour, Waubaushene and Little Lake in Midland. Waubaushene was chock full of weeds so couldn't fish the harbour side with my craft and had to fish the open water. Totally unproductive. Watched the sun set, but over trees. It got me thinking, I don't think I've ever seen the sun set over the water in Canada. Negril in Jamaica is possibly the only time I've seen that. It's perfectly situated on the west of the island. Does BC have the best sun sets, because it sets over the water?

If I were in Grand Bend or Sauble or whatever, would I see it set over Lake Huron? I suppose so. But have never stuck around for that.

We kept the 3.5 lb bass. Good eats, but bones were still in and very annoying to pick out.

Broke two rods. One I have no idea when it happened. Must have during transport. Other I stupidly whacked it against the one in the rod holder even though I shoulder checked to make sure I'd clear it. Still got three spares at home as I've gotten a lot of hand me downs over the years or found them while fishing. Like reeling in an entire reel and rod combo that fell overboard at some point.

Think the loon was only the fourth or fifth time I've seen one. The closest I've seen to the city was at Heart Lake in Brampton.

That's the only baby snapping turtle I've ever seen. He kept coming back even after we "petted" it. I even picked it up on the end of the oar and he'd drop off, run away a few feet and then come right back. Almost as if he was playing.

How the King's Plate looked during the rainout. And how it ended 6 days later. Really wanted to attend this year but couldn't make it either day. Looking at the people playing dress up is worth the trip alone.

That horrendous four day stretch of weather made way for some proper weather. Hope I can take advantage while fishing up in Muskoka.

Water spout and funnel cloud warnings for land and sea here today. They should be "cold core" and nothing major, if they happen, but still a rare alert for us.

Those celebrating their quashed fraud charges on a yacht better be on the watch.

25C with a humidex of 30 and mainly sunny. Thunderstorm this afternoon. We might have broken the all-time August precipitation record depending on how much the airport got.

Low of 19C this morning.

The warmspot was Churchill, MB at 33.5C (There is a 36.4C Chapleau reading but like back in June, it is incorrect).

Warmest low was Winnipeg (the Forks), MB at 23.3C

No funnels. But a lovely afternoon. Only 23C in my yard but feels WAY hotter. I'm constantly taking 10-minute breaks in the shade.

^ I know that's at the top of a mountain but still pretty wild to see.

Pleasant day here. Mostly sunny. Warm with a smidge of humidity.

23C and sunny in Moncton at 10 AM, going up to 29C later this afternoon, with a 30% chance of showers. Another perfect summer day.

Low tide at Alma NB, right next to Fundy National Park, an hours drive from Moncton. Naturally air conditioned by the Bay of Fundy, and, a refuge from the summer ague for inland Monctonians.

Another spectacular, lazy Sunday.

I was having an iced latte with my parents sitting out on Water Street, and a group of tourists passed by while one of the guys was saying, "This is what San Francisco could be. And should be." So I was absolutely gleeful

Well that was a nice day. Got up to 29C here in KW.

Took the dog to Crane Park in Guelph so she can run around leash free for 2 hours. She spent all her energy and has been passed out since we got back. She's getting a bath later though (she doesn't know it yet).
