Smile NEW YORK | 110 E. 16th St | 283 FT | 22 FLOORS

A second attempt at getting this one built. Not a giant, but blends well with the area.

I'll take it.

Also, super unfortunate Zeckendorf Towers isn't more Potsdamer Platz.

Also also, when is something gonna get built on the corner of Union SQ E and 16th? That squat pile of bricks has been sitting there begging for it for decades. It would probably need air rights transferred from somewhere to let it go higher but the blank walls of the wraparound 34 Union Sq E desperately need something to make them disappear:

What used to be:

Same goes for that early 50's pile of bricks across the 16th next to Tammany. What a disgrace to have something like that sitting there.

I had wondered what happened to this tower proposal. Thankfully, it finally seems to be moving forward.

Union Square could use a few more infill buildings of this type. There are still some scars from the postwar decades, like that ugly taxpayer above.

Also, what's happening with the massive Union Square expansion? There's a long-term plan to expand the square, including an expanded Greenmarket, and 14th Street would basically be incorporated into the square. There would also be subway improvements.

its not really very well defined, but they have already taken some of 14th street in front of union square for pedestrians.

also, union square west is an entirely useless street i dk why they just dont make it part of the park. i imagine it will be done at some point.

Strongly agree USW should be fully demapped and pedestrianized. In exchange I think they should leave the dimensions of 14 St alone. The whole park needs a refresh renovation on top of any expansion.

Speaking of Union Square West...

I sure wish we could get this bell tower and cupola back:

This building just underwent a facade restoration. Too bad they didn't go all the way.
