Love it, and love how it interacts and compliments the Elbphilarmonie.

^ Hi. I was talking to you about insulation and power-efficiency a bit earlier in a Frankfurt thread.
I was a bit provocative on purpose because all developed countries must decrease their greenhouse gas emissions per capita today.
And A/C in Summer or heating in Winter are not very efficient in that respect, to say the least.

In this case, the many white columns featured by the facade may be used as brise-soleil, that's a trick in use in Mediterranean and Arab regions for ages.
It may be ancient and elementary, it still works and doesn't require any power at all once built.
Although plants are probably even much better to cool down a building or a street when they're exposed to the sun.

We have problems with what they call thermal inertia.
Materials like concrete tend to store heat in case of heatwave, then it may take up to a whole week or more for indoor temperature to decrease.

Cities in Germany or northern France were not perticularly designed to face brutal heatwaves, while they'll be more and more frequent in a near future over here.
We are actually witnessing the effects of climate change already. It is happening right before our eyes.
So we must tackle this bad issue somehow.

And again, A/C is no reliable, sustainable solution.
It shouldn't be considered any advanced technology, as it basically simply works like a fridge.
In other words, it requires much power and to cool down the inside, it emits heat to the outside. That actually makes the whole problem even worse.

I know, all of this is super annoying. But anyhow, the environment wants us less greedy.

On Hold

The building paused in October 2023 and the developer has since filed for bankruptcy. A new buyer may demolish the entire structure.

^That would seem to be ridiculously wasteful and shortsighted. Realistically, German banks have also been affected by global inflation and monetary/capital tightening because of relatively high interest rates:

Hopefully, a buyer will see high value in the current project, and continue work on this building towards completion.

Here is a current picture of the Elbtower. In the meantime, some high-rise cranes have already been dismantled.

What will happen to the Elbtower -- we can only speculate about that at the moment. The most likely scenario is to continue construction - when a new investor has been found.
