Good idea. I added the address to the top of the post. This will run the length of the block fronting Central Ave.

Also, found the developer site that shows a partial rendering of Vela (about 1/2 way down on site) https://veladev.com/.

Hope to have more renderings soon.

Thanks. That rendering looks pretty cool. It does look like it's the west-facing facade... those balconies would bake in the summer afternoon, as would the rest of the building.

Looks nice! This and Central Station appear to be an nice bump in quality over our recent bout in skyscrapers in terms of materials and design. less space downtown will automatically lead to nicer and taller developments.

Looks like late summer construction start.

Also, Clayco has added Vela to their projects page: https://claycorp.com/project/vela-phoenix

Here's rendering from their page. The shaded structure behind Vela could potentially be what 1st and Pierce (381') would look like. Exciting times!

And the parking lot to the immediate right of it is actually under construction with a massive tower (Realm?) currently, correct?

About time we get some color in our skyline. Love the greenish blue hue of this! Wasn't Palm Tower initially supposed to be green as well?

I like that its design is just so different to the Derby , moon tower or Skye. They all seem to look the same. So the real thin width is a nice change. Though i do really like how Skye turned out.

Occasionally I like to check dust control permits submitted to the County. Clayco submitted a permit for Vela with a June 19 start date.

Anyone know if this is supposed to start soon, we are way beyond June 19th. I also wonder if they are going to have those cool looking balconies that Velas website shows.

My rough esimate is any day now, given the flurry of permit activity.

Rode by there on my bike tonight and the shade things, whatever they’re called for the farmers market are still there, so no initial work has been done yet.

I do not think the balconies are in the final design. My posts above should pretty much be what we are getting (don't quote me on that). As Sean said, they should be very close to breaking ground.

Drove by this today and didn't seem like much was going on. Any updates? Did this get hung up?

Looks like Vela is finally happening. Lot is closed and dirt is moving.
