Western University - Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre (Under Construction)

Excavation has started for the new 100,000 square foot Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre located between the Library and Student Services Building along Western Rd. Norlon Builders Construction appears to be the contractor.

I've heard about this project, I'm very interested in how it will affect development in the region in the future. I read about a similar example of regional development at the expense of an elementary school on a student resource https://samplius.com/free-essay-examples/elementary-school/ with free essay samples. It attracts young families to migrate to the region and thus improves population density.

Hayman link to this project.

It's odd that Western choose to give up a basement level for this new building. Seems to be a big waste of what would be invaluable square footage to not have a basement level.

It is strange (no basement level). There are some buildings at UWO with 2, and even 3 basement levels.

I walk past this every day. The project is moving along fast.

I wonder if cost and timeline concerns were the reason for that. That page says completion next August. That's a pretty aggressive timeline I think.

Looks like they have poured the 2nd floor slab on the west end of this building now. Forming is underway for the east end 2nd floor slab.

Hayman has some recent photos as of Nov 2022 on their website - https://www.haymanconstruction.com/E...reneurship.htm

As a bonus, it will help to hide the street view of the bunker-like external ugliness that is the Weldon Library.

If only they could do something similar to hide the hideous Social Science Centre.

Western's campus reflects architecture tastes thru the decades. As you would expect. As does hair styles and clothing.

Forming for the 3rd floor slab is nearly complete now with just some left on the south end. Should see some of the 3rd floor walls and posts poured by end of the month.

Most of the 3rd floor walls and posts on the north end are now poured. Appear to be finishing up the 3rd floor slab forming on the south end.

Have now got all the 4th floor walls and posts poured and the north end appears to have the 4th floor roof slab poured as well. Still alot of forming left for the south end roof slab to be setup.
