With all these chopstick highrises going up, NYC is leading the world again.

Manhattan is booming, Brooklyn is booming, Jersey City is booming and some new districts are booming, sad to see Newark not booming got left behind.

Newark has tons of highrises planned, including a single project with 5,000 units. It's just booming later, given it's further out and less desirable.

By 2030 it will look the same as Jersey City, with new residential highrises everywhere.

I'm really tired of the glass box, and the "glass box with a random dent and/or twist" trend in architecture.

When, oh when, I ask you, will we ever get another round of buildings that would be worthy of, or even just suitable for, Evo Shandor to try summon Gozer from the roof?

New York's relationship to the skyscraper is unique and leagues ahead of any other city. Manhattan is fundamentally made of skyscrapers in a way that no other city on earth is.

Sorry I never replied, thanks all! I never got a thread reply follow-up.

I boiled it down and made a photo book, about $100, but nice memento of the trip.
