Former Ticats Peter Dyakowski and Marwan Hage team up for Tories election bids
(Hamilton Spectator, Matthew Van Dongen, Nov 21 2018)
Retired Ticats Peter Dyakowski and Marwan Hage are teaming up again - this time to pursue Conservative nominations in Hamilton ahead of next year's federal election.
Dyakowski, 34, retired this fall after 11 years in the CFL, including a decade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
He hopes to run for the Tories on Hamilton Mountain "to make sure the people of Hamilton have a stronger voice" at the federal level, he said at a joint press conference at Tim Hortons Field today.
Hage, 37, retired in 2013 after a decade with the Ticats and now owns several Tim Hortons franchises in the GTA.
Hage, who currently lives in the GTA, said he wants to move back to "the city that gave me so much" and run in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek.
Both would-be politicians still need to be vetted in upcoming Conservative nomination meetings.
