Thanks. Rossetti is the architect for the arena portion of the Rendez-Vous LeBreton proposal, but the rest of the project was left to other firms with Ottawa's Barry J. Hobin taking the lead.

I've taken a keen interest in the Ice District. Great example to follow.

If you do find your quote, please do share it.

I hadn't seen the earlier proposal for MTS before. Reminds me of the Montreal Forum.

Had the chance to see the MTS Centre in person this weekend. Only from outside at night. Pictures don't do it justice.

Stadium naming rightsholder in Winnipeg is rebranding slightly... presumably a stadium name change is imminent.

The new 8,800 seat downtown events centre in Moncton officially opened today, and has now has an official name - the Avenir Centre

Avenir is a chain of audiology clinics in New Brunswick, headquartered in Moncton. The announcement of Avenir as the winner of the naming rights certainly came out of left field. Nobody was expecting it. There were many more likely candidates all with significant corporate presence in Moncton including RBC, TD Bank, National Bank, Tangerine Bank, Assumption Life, Medavie Blue Cross, Rogers Communication, Atlantic Lotto, Molsons and various Irving enterprises such as Majesta/Royale, Midland Transport and Cavendish Farms.

I like the name Avenir though. It means "future" in French, and works well with the Resurgo monument in the plaza out front. Resurgo is Moncton's motto and means "I rise again". All very positive and forward thinking........

A few pictures from today:

Goji's (a local froyo chain) has one of the concessions on the concourse

Moncton Sports Wall of Fame (downstairs lobby area)

Free concert at the outdoors stage

The first event at the Avenir Centre will be a Keith Urban concert next week.

Looks great, especially the outdoor amenities! Has the feel of a town square, which is perfect in its context. Nice work Moncton!

WOW, that is very impressive, the look is very slick and love the seating colours, they put just the right amount of box seats as well. Did they not go with the ribbon LED boards around the bowl? Can't seem to tell with the pictures. Anyways, this was a very good project done by Moncton.

There are ribbon LED strips. On the west side (without the corporate boxes), it is above the seating bowl. On the east side, it is between the corporate box level and the press box level.

Agreed. Great mid-sized stadium.

Great job Moncton. Punching way above your weight! And very refreshing to have it named for a local company as opposed to another bank or telecommunication company.

Commonwealth Stadium is pretty spectacular.

Side note, I was able to see IG Field in Winnipeg last weekend. Pretty spectacular compared to TD in Ottawa. Much cooler in person vs pictures.

Here's a drone picture from one of the Moncton forumers (Budyser) taken during the grand opening festivities. It helps to give an idea of what the plaza (town square) is like.

On the very right edge of the photo, across the street from the plaza you can see a mound of earth and some machinery. This is a construction site for a new Hyatt Place Hotel. Once completed, this will help to enclose the plaza, and will contribute to a "town square" type atmosphere......

^^now that Atlantic Canada has a new sports arena capable of hosting medium-class sized concerts & shows it will be interesting to see what concert tours stop there.

The East coast has a history of being duped with concerts or have festival failures with concert promoters going bankrupt & tax payers getting the bill for bringing shows to that part of the country for their outdoor 'grass field' shows, but at least with a new arena there'll still be infrastructure to show for it at the end of the day to host more entertainment in the future.

I'd like to see Moncton host a stop for PBR Canada at the new arena, Skate Canada, a Juno awards, Brier, and maybe even share hosting a World Junior hockey tournament in the future.

Congratulations and well done Maritimes!

The Scotiabank Centre in Halifax has a larger capacity than this new arena in Moncton and it has been around since 1976.
