Looks like the design is pretty much set in stone. That likely means the floor counts are as well. I can live with 52 floors for the tallest tower. Height won't be taller than the Austonian but it will definitely help with the overall skyline height contrast.

I'm not impressed with the design of the office building. It's too bulky like every other office proposal we have seen. It would be nice if it was thinner and taller at least to 30 floors.

While it's not breakthrough in facade and coloration, I like how each tower will have what looks to be more than one glass color. If the renderings are as close to the coloration of the actual end result, each tower will have a different shade than the others which is nice.

Maybe they're keeping it shorter to preserve the views of the north-facing condos/hotel rooms.

The first floor of the towers is where the retail is. As I suggested in my previous post perhaps the lack of signage is what is confusing. There is no private terrace in back. If you look at the first rendering there are two of those fake signs on that "private" terrace. One says "Tree Bar". From previous articles about this project there will be an urban grocer on the ground floor of the office tower as well as restaurants, cafes, etc located in the entire project.

Ok, i've edited the title with the updated floor counts. I couldn't fit all the heights in though, and they're likely to change somewhat anyway. Plus when they do start construction we can have individual threads for each so all that info will be up there for each.

There's more work going on at the site this morning. It looks like they are clearing more of the area where the two houses used to be.

I'd get more excited about this project if they weren't using Sim City for the rendering. But great to see movement.

On the other hand, McCourt has his detractors. He does seem to like to wheel and deal and has been very lucky as of late. Here is good profile of the developer. It does not specifically discuss any Austin project. It is more focused on McCourt's NYC projects.

So they now have Waller between Red River and Waller Creek closed to anything but paid parking. The Chain Drive is not yet demolished. Neither are the buildings across Waller. All of the businesses formerly occupying those spaces are gone. The building at Red River and Waller is not yet demolished and still houses one or more businesses. There are signs of change on this parcel, but not enough to convince me that construction is imminent. I sure hope this thing gets built. It just seems too good to be true in terms of the scope and scale of the proposed project.

This project is still steadily crawling along. A new master report update was released yesterday. No major news, other than they are still working on clearing the comments on the Site Plan.

Man, Cesar Chavez will be a mess to look at if Fairmont and PP go up at the same time. It will be cool to see happening but will probably cause some major traffic delays on heavy concrete or steel delivery days.

I'ts interesting to wonder what subtle effects this will have on foot traffic during that time. Will Rainey St and other DT bar area crowds tend to stay separated by a vague psychological effect?
