^ That's a relatively low parking ratio for $1,000/sf condos, especially considering the presence of a large hotel, restaurants, ballrooms, etc.

^^^ Is that one benefit of the international marketing, condos as 2nd homes, etc? How many of those people are going to have US drivers licenses or even want to keep a car here?
For hotel guests, Uber is competitive with renting a car and paying to park it.

Yes and no... Remember that the bases of the towers touch one another, so they just go through the walls to interconnect the parking.

What does this mean. Are you saying they will rebuild the stretch of Middle Wacker (aka Lower Wacker but not the one that is service level Wacker) in front of Vista?
And, that they will extend that several feet southwards so the whole stretch abuts the building?

Are you referring only to the construction period? What do the people living in Coast do?
Also, what's the final Upper Wacker going to look like after project completion? Sorry I haven't kept track of the latest on that.

According to Dave Alexander of McHugh, the plan is to rebuild the Wacker Bridge (Upper and Middle) and extend southwards. While they are extended the upper level, it won't be to LSD

They said first condos will be occupied 48 mos after construction. Please clarify as to what you are asking in relation to Coast Residents

Upper Wacker will end muck like it does today, but will rebuilt

Please clarify, I don't understand in what sense you are asking about the Coast residents.

The residents of Coast will have assess on upper Wacker as they do now. The north/south drive between Coast and Swissotel will remain open, but cars exiting onto Wacker will turn west.

What is currently east bound upper Wacker will become 2-way during the construction and what is currently westbound Wacker will just be closed.

According to DNA Info, this thing is in site prep now:

Quote:
Welcome Vista: Site Prep Begins for 3rd Tallest Building in Chicago

Move over, Willis and Trump: workmen began site preparations Monday for what will be the city's third tallest building, a 93-story luxury complex at 381 E. Wacker Drive.

....

A pair of workmen could be seen at the site using a hydraulic drill, a modest beginning to what will be a notable change to the city's skyline.

Looks like theres a bit of confusion about the height in that article (1,444 feet & 8 feet taller than AON? Maybe 1,144is what they meant?)

In any case great news. This should be a fun 4 years.

Umm... this quote is dumb. Why would Willis and Trump, the towers that will be taller than Vista, have to move over?

So soil testing = site prep? I always thought site prep meant demolition, site grading, etc.

Can please someone clarify this for me?

IMO it's not as dumb as Sears being called Willis (I don't like the rename).

I think it's because Vista will rival them on the skyline from some angles, especially in the case of Trump Tower.

Yes, I know the antennas aren't supposed to count, Hancock center is the second tallest in the city to me.

Or that it will get the spotlight/attention/publicity relative to the other Chicago supertalls for being the new attraction and boost its status for a while, rivaling the inherent advantage of being a taller mainstay or icon.

Regardless of the wording of the title, has anyone actually verified in person that there is work being done on site and that this isn't just an old video from months ago when they were doing test holes for the cassions? I doubt they would be sending another rig out unless maybe they are having issues with the engineering or site conditions. In either case, it's not site prep, especially not if DNA info is the source, lol.

There are a couple of soil testing rigs out there. Can see them from my office. Likely engineering followup.

^ yeah, they're probably just dotting their I's and crossing their T's. with a project this massive, it's probably wise to "test twice and drill once" if there is any uncertainty about what lies beneath.

There was another cautionary tale of poor tower foundation engineering earlier this week. This is exactly why those rigs are back out there. A little more testing is far cheaper than lawsuits and remediation:
