Is there any particular reason for that? There seems to be constant bickering, belittling, racism and other negative posts that seem to creep into every single Winnipeg thread. Maybe it has to do with the moderators and how they run the show here? I have no idea, but it certainly takes away from the experience of SSP.

Just my two cents.

I'm not sure why this thread is so much worse than others on this forum. Maybe it reflects the annoyance/anger many have at this city/province, constantly having high hopes that are dashed for one reason or another.

As for the racism, I feel like Manitoba is at the front of the Native debate as our Native population is very high compared to other parts of Canada. As a result there are some very strong opinions on it (often considered racist).

The off-topic aspect of the thread is, similar to the Northern Ontario thread, a result of the discussion moving faster than the topics it is discussing, resulting in the discussion getting thrown off topic. There isn't enough news of development to keep us occupied but we must discuss it. Compared this to Calgary where you can't turn a page in the local paper without new development news staring you in the face.
In all respect to your MOD status and long posting history Vid, Little people being pushed out(what is the def. of little ppl.?) 10 posts 100? Non architecture dergree?
If what you say is accurate(few posters on this thread) wouldn't it it be more productive for SkyscraperPage to encourage new members? This would be a Moderator debate again.I cant' change sqaut..I'm a new guy, and I've been SEVERELY corrected for posting by MODS..SSP Poll? Not 1 MOD answered questions when I posted them.

I'll return this thread to the construction thread and I hope to see an increase in members not a decrease?..Again hoping not to offend but to observe and increase posters experience with this forum. Nobody will care but I'm already bummed out ..

"Little people" being those who don't post often, don't visit the forum daily, aren't 100% up-to-date on the thread's goings-on.

I'm not a moderator, I'm an editor, my powers lie in the diagram database (the reason this site exists). Member conduct has been an issue here since the beginning (even I was suspended a lot in my earlier years here) and some mods are quite heavy handed in what they do (while others are very laissez-faire and don't do much at all), so it can be a hostile experience for non-regulars.

The best you can do is be patient and use the report post button if someone is doing something that you think is hurting the community.

Thx for the response, I really appreciate an (EDITOR) taking the time to respond, as you well now what is involved in creating, designing, maintaining, updating, changing and sometimes moderating large websites, blogs, forums so I can understand the logistics in the endevour as I am invloved in it as well.

I would personally LOVE for the community to grow, but that will take an effort from the Management side of the equation, as regular posters just want to update and contribute to the discussion. Changes can only be made by those in control of the site.
But enough I think I've talked enough about an earlier post, and will get back to enjoying the site. thx..

As a new poster, not like the 1000 + posters here, experts and members working in this field,(did earn my stripes with 10 yrs construction exp. when younger), It can be tough to post on this forum, without getting destroyed sometimes.

Sounds harsh but with only 17 or so posts here, I've experienced that you almost don't want to post new material or voice an opinion without the chance of being shot down, It's intimidating to new posters or non experts.(Heaven forbid you make a mistake) You want to increase membership, not scare it away? Just my own thoughts not meant to offend but to point out something I've noticed since joining.
Welcome to the forum, I post just about anything I want, most know me as the crotchety old right wing red-neck, aside from my hate of cats, dogs, priests and Australians I prefer beer over wine and hard liquor.

Spend more time on the HFBoards lately where I delight in skewering the European Jets.

I don't really know where to post this, but I think a few people from this forum might like this video... It's a place in England trying to create a more pedestrian friendly street in the centre of town.

Any thoughts? I hope we can land a WHL franchise because I would certainly would go to half of the games. If we don't then I won't be surprised.

Miniatur Wunderland

Hi everyone, I hope it is okay to post a link to a construction site of a different kind. A friend of mine sent me the following YouTube video of Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany. It has taken 500,000 hours to build and it is still under construction. It is awesome!

Similar to that is Minimundus, in Austria: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCpquEJvtGo

Not quite as intricate but a cool way to compare scales of world landmarks.
