No, the report in Kevin's link specifically references ABIA.

What business would an airplane have being so low to downtown like that? LOL

I would say none, and that's why every building over 499' gets approved. But the greater height of this one apparently triggered a period for public comments that ended on May 22nd. I would think we will get a final ruling relatively soon.

The FAA says yes to the height. The PDF in the link has the info.

I'm no expert on FAA regulations, but this is my best guess: any structure greater than 499' high within a certain distance of ABIA requires a detailed air navigation study to be conducted. A structure less than 499' high but greater than a certain height requires an FAA application and notice and standard hazard lighting, but no detailed study.

That's my interpretation too. There is also apparently a certain height that triggers further study as a "Circularized" case with a period for public comments. That's what happened with this project. That is also the case for the revised Republic Tower. But oddly enough only the tallest corner at 710' was moved to "Circularized" status while the other three corners at 708' and 709' were not.

Great news. Do you now if 6X went through the same process?

It didn't for the bump to 883'. But I don't remember if it did originally for the 848' height.

Nothing exciting to report, but I hate seeing the thread for our first supertall drop to the bottom half of page 2. The site plan update is still in progress and updates are being posted to it. Just about everything is about flooding and right of way. At least progress is ongoing.

Looks like it's been added to the diagrams section. Kind of surreal to see it appear among the Texas giants.

1,021'?

And, 848' for 6XG?

I can understand the 848' 6XG - but, where did they get 1,021' for 98 Waller?

I think we were speculating on that height awhile back.

1,021 feet is from the site plan. 1,034 feet came from the FAA permit. The two different heights for 6 X Guadalupe are also from the site plan and FAA permit.

Oh. Thanks.

Regarding 98 Waller, I thought members estimated a rough height of 1,030' from the lowest point of entry to the tower (based on the site plan)?!? 1,021 from average grade?!?

It's nice to see Austin bookending the top 7 with the same number as Dallas and only one fewer than Houston. Who would have thought that would be possible only a few years ago?

From my understanding, this building would not only be the tallest building in Texas, but also the tallest building in any U.S. state capital, since Bank of America Plaza in Atlanta currently holds that title at 1,023 feet.
