They're responsible for the next block west, aren't they?

Yes, yes they are, and I am firmly convinced they are sitting on it to let it rot, so they can let it collapse or fall so far into disrepair they can state they have to demolish it to get past the heritage preservation. I don't think they should be able to hold onto it this long.

..all to replace it with some crappy generic build.

The city should at least be taxing the hell out of slum lords who leave their buildings empty

Will be nice to have that entire sidewalk back again. Lots of potential for more nice patios with Gore Park/Veterans Place right out front.
