Based on what Edmonton got out of the Budget don't expect anything until the election.

Larin is better than Huddersfield.

Commonwealth Stadium is not a World Cup quality venue.

Huddersfield are currently in the promotion places to EPL for next season. I'd say he'd be happy on an EPL team.

If Qatar can build 8 essentially brand-new stadiums, surely we can have 2 close to WC quality venues. Commonwealth would be embarrassing.

How many migrant workers die in Canada building our stadiums?

If Commonwealth isn't renovated for 2026 it won't be hosting.

How many hundreds of millions are you willing to spend for a 5 second aerial shot before the game. After that they all look the same.

They are in a playoff position for promotion. He's good enough to play for a mid-premiership team, not one that will likely go back down after one year.

it's a 50 year old, bare bones, concrete bunker....with a plastic field.

Consider the billion-dollar stadiums the American cities will be using and compare that to Commonwealth....it could easily be the worst stadium to host a World Cup game in modern history.

Does Canada have a better stadium that is FIFA-ready right now?

That's definitely the problem....other than BMO, not really....its amazing to me they even approved Canada as a host partner to be honest....the lack of quality venues is why Edmonton is being considered....that doesn't make it an appropriate stadium, but it's all we've got.

Vancouver, Regina, Winnipeg have better stadiums. Obviously size is the issue for the last two. Olympic Stadium is at least a special place.

They need to figure out how to get Vancouver back in.

All those fields are plastic and would have to figure out how to change that....not as easy as it used to be.

I know one of us has read the Euro guide for European stadiums and what they need to host the Euro. Nearly every major stadium in Canada meets that standard (aside from a turf surface). The artificial turf has to be removed, that is a given and not something new that wasn't already known. The argument about being 50 years old is poor, we have examples that say otherwise.

We'll agree to disagree, I guess. Playing in the EPL is playing in the EPL.

I'd say he'd be happy on a good Championship team, with a good pay raise, to get out of Turkey, and go to a higher league (with EPL potential)

They don't just allow the carpet of dead grass to be laid on top of the plastic anymore....it has to be in place for a much longer time.....which has impacts on the stadium being used for other things.

Agree, the operative word is playing, unlike many on the US who are on big clubs and NOT playing.

Larin is 27. This is his time to move....he wont likely go up from his next club....he has no reason to settle for a Championship side....that's a lateral move.

Very true, but a turf installation in Canada would last one season and revert back to artificial. It is the only option if we want an event like the WC.
