First off, your bio suggests you live in Woodland Hills (LA County). I lived there way back when, and am VERY familiar with its super-wide intersections, all over the place.
And if we're talking about LA city proper, there's this gem of an intersection:

with which I (and millions of other Angelenos) are very familiar. For those who aren't I suggest you spin it 360 degrees to get a real feel for just how pedestrian-friendly this area of LA city proper is. Funny how closely it resembles the exact same intersection that jtown,man posted.
