What if behind the scenes, Bezos is in talks with developers on Block 185, The Republic, and 6th X Guadalupe. Wouldn’t that supply the immediate square footage Amazon was targeting, and on their timeline too.
It’s kinda the shape of an A? No, am I reaching? Lol

Very exciting to hear. Also on another note I vision oneday Republic Square park expands north where the current post office is. How nice would it be to have a masdive park streching from The Republic to 6X Guadalupe.

I could get on board with that as long as there is still room for a super tall point tower as part of the deal. It is after all one of if not the last full block unencumbered by a CVC. Would like to see it taken advantage of. Have the tower take just a corner with the rest of the block park.

The balconies/greenery on the east facing side is new. I sure hope this major upgrade is for a tenant pre-leasing space. If not, it could be healthy competition in response to the Block 185 plans. That would be similar to White Lodging making the substantial upgrade to the JW after the original Fairmont plans were announced.

I wish it was taller and had a spire. HA!! just kidding. Love all the responses though, my lame add would be with holy shit!! SIGNATURE GAME CHANGING TOWER. It appears the added height did not negatively affect the shape. But I won't substitute this for Viagra until it breaks ground.

Is that even possible? BTW check out post 752. When was the last time we saw such a dramatic improvement in a proposed design except for maybe the JW. And WHY was there such a dramatic improvement in the design? Most likely increased demand, but I want to think its the beginning of a who can build a bigger, taller, flashier building war.
And I agree, the next 5 years will be the most dramatic in regards to changing our skyline. We won't match up with Houston and Dallas building for building, but Austin's skyline will be the prettiest in the state thanks to the river and surrounding area.

Wow. Man, this is great. haha I can't get over how big it appears. I'm curious to see what that northwest corner will look like from ground level. The facade comes down at an angle there almost all the way to the ground and extends up to the setback below the crown. That should be a dramatic view from street level in that area.

Here's the original version followed by the new and approved proposal:

^^ You know, it's almost like they pay attention to this page. Most decent looking towers get a response from someone on SSP doing some photoshop to merely stretch the same design to make it a bit taller...

Well, in that case, I'd like to see more renderings of it from the east and west. I think this building is probably going to have the most noticeable top at night. If those night renderings are accurate, it's going to be big and bright. The only other building that can compete with that light is the Frost Bank Tower, but this one is nearly 200 feet taller. And it's not just the height, but the amount of surface area of the crown that appears to be lit.

THIS is a big city design. I’m so glad they raised the height on this baby. I now care more about this than 6x

This building should make the Block 71 boys jealous.

Monster! There has to be a major player involved. Amazon or could it be a company without a presence in Austin currently? Very exciting times in the ATX. A lot to look forward to.

Can someone photoshop the Amazon logo on this......

I don't see how HQ2 would work for DT ATX though...

I thought Amazon wanted 500k to 1 million square feet of premium office space immediately after they make their decision. Does DT ATX even have an already built vacant building with 500k square feet available for them?

I don't think it's reasonable for them to immediately expect that much space would be available adjacent to or as a part of the new campus location. (No matter which city they choose.) I'd bet that they will have to accept that their initial space requirement will have to be filled by temporary offices while the campus buildings are built/finished out.

Check page 15 on the Parsley thread. Something about seeing the renderings from the broker but not the architect or something along those lines.
