agreed that the entire 77 complex brings nothing to the City other between than the hours of 10 to 3 fri and sat. and even what it brings during those hours is up for debate as to whether it benefits the City.

the rounded corners make the square aspect of it a lot more forgiving, as do the shapes of the balconies

Given the height reduction, it will be interesting to see how the design changes. I can't imagine they'll simply lop off the original 10-storeys from the top... perhaps the podium will end up being taller with additional units to make up the difference? Or sloped upward toward the tower?

I thought the upper portion of the tower was a little odd looking the way it was stepped, especially the "hat" at the top. I would be happy if that got changed.

ok now THAT'S something I could get behind.. but.. er.. isn't it a bit.. narrow for movies? Also how would that work for volume in the surrounding area? I am guessing it'd kinda be like a drive in type experience?

Yea, it definitely has a Miami feel to it... which is why I'm not a fan of this look for Hamilton. In this city it will just look out of place and dated... in Miami it works perfectly - different climate and atmosphere.

I dunno.. if you look at all the skyscrapers being proposed and built they all have very DIFFERENT looks - I think because we have so few condos of similar styles that it could work to have a mishmash

The City owns the lot behind Dirty Dogs and Lulu's. Dirty Dogs is owned by a numbered company. Lulu's is owned by King William Holding Co.

There is a completely empty block just to the west of this development. Maybe the Park should go there?
Or perhaps build this Condo on the same lot as Club 77 (they can stay) but facing north.
Create the park by joining two of the blocks ie. Hughson to Catherine, and Rebecca to Wilson.
This would create a mini "Central Park" with plenty of empty space around it to be developed!
I love the building style and height, but a colour other than white would be better. I agree with most, this would look better in Miami.

I think a park is also proposed for there - it would be great if they did join all those empty lots, say diagonally, close off the streets and make it like another gore park.

Durand and Beasley seem to forget they are both located in downtown Hamilton.

If they are worried about the sun shadow than it won't be a problem with the park at the north. There will probably be a shadow on the east and west side of the high rise, however on both side it's a parking lot.

Yes but as we all know parking lots are rapidly being gobbled up to become new high rises..

So we don't want to build high rises because it'll cause a shadow on empty lots (parking lots) which will eventually be turned into high rises that will cause shadows themselves? By that logic let's just never build anything tall. LOL
