Aha, so that's why it looked a bit out of proportion!

On a side note, I had this terrible dream last night involving the Burj Dubai. In my dream I turned on the t.v. and the news channel was showing video footage of the Burj Dubai tipping over due to strong winds. I'm not kidding, when I woke up I immediately turned on my laptop and check these forums to make sure it wasn't really so!

That's a very, very scary thought if you ask me.

When I was in college I worked for UPS one summer loading trucks. I frequently dreamed of walls of boxes.

Fury, I can't see an image in your post.

So is the haze in these photos smog or a sandstorm?

And have there been any BASE jumpers on this thing yet?

I can't imagine the smog being significant enough to block out as much as it does, it has to be the desert.

One was going to base jump from it, apparently, but they stopped him before he made it to the top. He didn't have written permission. =P

There was a guy that tried to base jump it, but was stopped by security. Interestingly enough, they said he only lacked a proper permit, which makes me think that someone may be able to base jump from it some day.

BTW ^ Amazing photos!

I remember when I saw this building for the first time as just a picture in a newly printed skyscraper book (this is going back a few years). When I first saw it I thought it was beautiful, but since then the novelty has worn off a bit. Regardless, here we are all these years later, and despite architectual taste, it cannot go without say that this building is a marvel.

May I ask what book it was, and what year its Copyright is?

The title of the book is: SKYscrapers. The copyright date is 2004.

It's a real beautiful book.

Hmm, I'll search for it on Amazon!

BTW, was it called "SKYscrapers:????", or just "SKYscrapers"?

And who is the author?

Hi all.

Flickr - thibautdelestre- 08 04 23

So we must have passed 40,000,000 manhours on this thing by now - wow and over 7000 workers - wow again.

Also probably within a week for the first column of the first section of tier 19 and the tallest manmade structure in history at 649.7 m. from grade (to the top of the column). The first section of tier 19 will have a terrace facing North (tier 18 roof or setback ).

It will be interesting to see the next 3 setbacks as the following 3 face the same direction - namely 0, 120, and 240 degrees. Up untill now the following round of 3 have been 60 degrees different from the previous 3 since tier 12.

So cool to be able to "watch" this structure being built. Thanks to all the contributors.
