I like the character of the Riverwalk as is, but I don't see any skyscrapers being built DT that are not at least a stone's throw from the river, with access.

I agree, but I’d broaden and narrow this a bit:
(Broaden the areas that may be likely to developed over the medium term and narrow the typology of tower for each)
Riverwalk (in the bend) access will largely continue to be hotel towers.
Museum Reach will largely be office towers (particularly on the Broadway side)
San Pedro Creek access will largely be residential towers.
