Unlike Chicago, I'm not too familiar with Evanston addresses and building names, so I'm not going to be able to name them.

It's just a feel I've gotten walking around that some of the buildings have a very sterile presence at or near the sidewalk level.

As someone who interned with the Mount Prospect community development department when this project was being proposed, I can tell you that this thing has been over a decade in the making.

This several acre lot is split up into 15+ tiny plots of land and the village and developer have been working tirelessly to buy them all off. Currently, a small sandwich shop on the corner of Northwest Hwy and 83 is the only plot they do not own. The owner wants 1.5 million for the tiny corner lot and the village is considering relocating him to a new retail space nearby since the shop is popular in the community.

The plan is for a 6 or 7 story building to go on the corner of Northwest Hwy and 83.

There's more work around here that I may post as well when I get the chance.

Glad to help!

The Oak Avenue project is going to bridge the gap between the new buildings on Ridge with the developments east of the tracks to form a nice little sub pocket of density.

Thanks for the Mount Prospect update ajradfotwo, and welcome to the forum. I don't get down NW HWY as much as I used to.
I didn't realize another building was still planned for that lot. That's good to hear. Hopefully Submarine Express takes the deal and relocates.
Palatine did the same thing with Mexico Uno, which has been thriving in it's new location only a block away.

the tower crane for 1727 oak in evanston is going up this morning.

that makes 3 tower cranes in the evanston skyline at the moment.

it's been a good long while since we've seen that.

also, over in lincolnwood the old purple hotel site looks to be finally moving forward.

Village President Barry Bass called the Feb. 5 vote a “monumental” and “historic” time for Lincolnwood, a vote that could lead to construction of new residential, retail, commercial and hotel uses at the parcel.

“After approximately 14 years of a vacant, blighted site, we have a quality developer in Tucker Development,” Bass said. “I’ve never seen such professionalism conveyed in my entire life. It’s a team effort, and now we look forward to the even harder work of collaboration to get things done and started and moving forward.”
