Lots of activity here in April 2025, they've surrounded this with mast climbers, big cutouts into the building envelope, gutting the inside...

Out of Ottawa Magazine. Thanks to Pat from Rail Fans for stumbling upon this. Looks like a tear down and rebuild, but the podium seems inspired by the brutalist architecture of the current building.

For what it's worth, the leader of our Jane's Walk last weekend said that it was going to just be a conversion of the existing building, but not sure that was accurate either.

I went and took a look at lunch after reading the latest posts here and I would be very surprised if this was still a conversion... Demolition Plus seems to be going pretty hard on it

Not in the industry so just basing this off some of the other conversions/reclads I've watched down here which seemed to have a much tamer approach

Groupe Mach's website shows this as a repositioning project to create new office space. Just thought i would add to the confusion.

So was it ever confirmed somewhere that this was a full demolition and not just an office to residential conversion where the skeleton of the building would stay intact?

Looks like the mechanical penthouse has started full demo. Won't be convinced whether this is a conversion or demo until we see what they do with the mains structure.

man oh man, once again DemoPlus being right on the edge of safety. Those guys standing on a fully extended scissor lift, chipping at a two or three storey loose block wall from the 60's... You wouldn't catch me up there with a 10 foot pole. All it would take is one small area of old-ass block coming loose, to push the entire lift over the edge of the roof.

Right ??? That scissor lift wouldn't take much.

I feel an overwhelming urge to send that photo and the one of all that damned debris on top of Releve to the City of Ottawa.

I swear to god everyone who works in construction is a knuckle dragging moron when it comes to safety. Guy I used to work with told me a story about how he flipped a cast iron bathtub out of his trailer while turning left in an intersection and hes laughing about it. Like.. what is wrong with you?

You ever see the back of a pickup truck with like 5 levels of scaffold and all its planks and polls and there is a single little yellow rope on one corner?

I hate all these people.

The video dated June 2nd on Demolition Plus's Facebook says they are taking it 'down floor by floor right to the ground'.

Well thats interesting! So this is no longer an office to residential conversion but a completely new project. This image posted in a magazine earlier might be more accurate then we first thought then. I would not be mad

Thanks to the drone footage, the debris issue on the roof of Releve is being addressed.

Six more of the pre-cast panels were removed this morning.

I noticed that this is right beside the parkade that had the issue this past spring. Maybe Demolition-Plus will get a ‘2-fer’.

Should just implode one on top of the other and call it a day.

I'm half-surprised the rest of the parkade structure is still up, given the plans for that site already anticipated demolishing it. Wonder if it's due to whatever regulatory or other legal proceedings that might have ensued?
