Well, I picked 50, even though I'm two months away.

Just trying to get used to the concept.

When I registered on the forum in 2012, I was in my early 20s. That was after a few years of lurking.

I've heard you stop gaining wisdom at 60.

I started using the internet in 1996: mostly British car and electronic music sites. I found UT--joined it in early 2003, SSP & SSC in 2002 when I finally got high speed internet. Prior to that I got my condo/real estate/architecture fix via the Saturday Star and architecture magazines in the Toronto Reference Library: I practically lived in the TRL, often spending 8 hour days there. Moving to Montreal and Vancouver c.2002-05 made me realize how much I missed the TPL system.

I think I lurked on SSP for about 5 years before making an account. It is a unique source of information (local Vancouver development anyway) that doesn't seem to be available anywhere else.

I’m also one of the 1980 born picking 40 for the first time. Joined way back in the day mostly just lurk, no to many comments but I was near a 1000 at one time for some reason they got erased and started at zero about 15-16 years ago or so.

The debates on online forums such as this can get pretty nasty, petty and personal. I doubt too many women are keen to participate.

In other words, to many females, SSP would not be considered a "safe space".

Another thing may be the the focus and subject matter discussed on this particular forum. This might be more attractive to male participants than female participants.

Also a good reminder that SSP is not representative of anything in the real public realm, with respect to majority opinions, etc.

I'm 20, joined here in my teens. I never was super keen on the internet until I was a teen, and found this site when I was still somewhat getting used to using it. Lurked for a year and finally created an account after.

I've always thought I was close to median age in this forum but looks like I'm about a decade away from that until we get more forumers in their 20's ( and less forumers in their 60's) in the 2020s.

There's a regular forumer in Regina but she posts only in the Queen city's threads.
.
When I first started posting on SSP there was someone called PrairieGirl from Moose Jaw that posted regularly in the weather thread but she decided to pack it in several years ago, I haven't seen any posts from her account in quite a few years unfortunately
